Are in game carries in exchange for gold allowed ?

Stardustrevolution
i see people and guild selling carries such as vSS, skyreach, nBRP for fast leveling, they charge in game gold for that,
is it authorized to post such carries in the zone chat ? and get gold for it ? if so, is there a limit or specific rules?

As long as the seller dont log into your account i guess its ok

i forgot to add, by carries i mean, the player paying for it, gets carries trough some content, and at the end of it the whole thing group transfer all the gear to the buyer, and the buyer pays the group for that, they also sell it for skins such as the one you get on VSS, and they charge millions for it, like 30 million or more

30M. Heh. Someone in zone chat was advertising a SS trifecta carry. I pm'd and asked how much. Anyone want to hazard a guess?

    Anyone?

    FIVE HUNDRED MILLION GOLD.

I did the math. At the then-current "exchange rate," that represented $1,500 in actual, real-world money.

Granted, 11 other people have to keep you alive through a trifecta, and beat the thing, likely without any real help from you, and then they have to split that 11 ways. Still ~50M per person for that seems... extreme.

If you can point me to a group that would only charge me 30M, I believe I'd do that. In about a heartbeat.

Why wouldnt it be ok as long as they dont log into your account?

If someone wanna pay x gold for getting into a group that can clear a certain activity in game thats up to the buyer and seller.

    Yes, it's allowed.
It's in-game currency for in-game activity. Nothing wrong with it.

Jessica confirmed a long time ago it is ok to sell services like skin carries. Of course, as has been said, no ToS violations can be involved. For example, no scamming and no playing anyone else’s account in any way (which rules out Maelstrom and Vateshran entirely, as well as any carries that are only feasible if someone controls another player’s character).

      https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/314531/people-selling-the-maw-skin-on-ps4-na/p1ust

(The in-game service in that context was selling the Maw skin. Jessica said it is “true” that selling in-game services like that is fine, but that scamming while doing so is not.)

I've never paid for a carry service, I really like to try whatever I can on my own. Also accepting that unless I join a trial group, etc some things will always be out of reach. I'm ok with that.

I think about it this way:
We as the player do quests for NPCs all the time where it's "Please do X for me, because I cannot and I'll pay you."
We take the quest, go out and rescue\retrieve the NPC's sibling\partner\heirloom\sweet roll\Award-winning watermelon, etc

Players other than ourselves could be considered "NPCs"in the game world to each of us.

So it stands to reason that we could hire others to do tasks or retrieve things for us.
It would be them accepting our "quest" to do a task for us and we pay them.

Seeing the gold amount @dk_dunkirk estimated above, freakin HECK!
Got me thinking about training to get good enough join a carry group. 50mil is a NICE payday lol

In addition to what others have said above, the comment below as well as the thread it is quoted from may be of help.
It is a closed thread from Nov 2019 titled:
Selling Carries - Group claims Gina was in their Discord and that it is sanctioned
      idk wrote: »
People can pretty much trade anything in game. Gina has specifically said we can trade items from the crown store for gold. That is trading an in game item for an in game item.
To clarify, trading an in-game item for other in-game items is allowed; trading in-game items for real-world money or other out-of-game items is strictly prohibited.
A Crown Store item is considered an in-game item.
Zos also does not prohibit selling clears for gold but using the forums to drum up business is not permitted. This is not P2W as none of it makes anyone stronger. No aspect of it is P2W.

Also, I see you say nothing about Gina being in their Discord or even what that has to do with any of this.

BTW, I am sure some will thank you. The tend to use threads like these to find new customers.
What if I go north? Disappear.
      Would you come after me?

good to hear, but it would be good to get confirmation from the staff, because i heard of people getting banned for advertising on the zone chat, so i would like to know for sure from the staff if its allowed

spamming ads in chat is annoying and i'd be thrilled to hear that they ban folks for that.

in-game carries sold for in-game gold are permissible.

There is a direct quote in the thread I linked above from Jessica Fulsom, a senior community manager.

ETA: that doesn’t give permission for ToS violations, so spamming an ad in chat is still actionable, and any ad for MA or VH would be too.

The issue you can run into with carries is that it can devalue accomplishments of players as people that didn't put in the effort can get the rewards, it can end up messing up the economy, and it leaves annoying spam on chat.

thank you very much for your answer, so you can advertise in chat but not spam it, what would be a good time interval ? before considered spam

That's a very good question, and I'm not sure I have an answer for you. I can't recall ever seeing an official source mention a specific time interval before a message is considered spam. Perhaps someone else has.

It doesn't mess up the economy. Some people are just going to be rich in any game's economic system.

It doesn't devalue someone else's accomplishments because a carry is not viewed as equal to a proper playthrough and it's generally known who is carried. If an ad is spammed, that's already bannable. If it's not spammed and just normal, then something existing that some people find annoying is not an issue.

There's no set interval so people don't abuse it. Don't send it a ton repeatedly, and if you're doing it enough that people are becoming annoyed, that's a good time to stop. Also try not to do it enough to be disruptive to any other conversations that might be going on zone chat. Generally if you're not disrupting anyone or being over the top, it's probably fine.

In the time is would take me to earn 30 million in gold, much less 500 million, I could learn how to be an effective team member for all trials in the game.

It creates significant demand for illegal gold buying.

You'll also notice that some of the illegal gold selling groups also sell carries.

I think carries for gold are fine, WoW has them spammed in trade chat all the time for people to get their achievements, gear, and mounts. +1 if you want to buy one. I have bought a vCR +2 before from the guys selling it in Craglorn. I plan to buy many more runs so when I join a trifecta guild, I can post my /pat and get a spot.

They invite you to a group, you give them the gold then you just stay off in the corner healing yourself or contributing if you want.

Yes, carries are absolutely legitimate player interaction. Think of it as a form of paid service. Nothing different than buying something at a guild trader.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.
