That's what the PTS group did. The weekend betas were strictly Server Stress Tests.

People are lucky (or "fast" enough to get into the beta thanks to Curse) they even got to play pre-launch.

Saying they want a *finished* product like if it's a solo player game

An MMO can be a "finished" product in terms of major issues being fixed. Minor bugs can still exist. "Finished" just means ready for release ie ready to move out of beta.

    What bugs? I haven't encountered not 1 bug and I'm lvl 25..

Read the patch notes. There were issues that stopped progression for different factions. That would be a major bug not a minor one like the Frog Race quest.

Really starting to get sick of the sad little whiners bemoaning the state of a such a larger game at launch. Either they a) have never played a game at launch, since I can't recall one MMO that launched without hic-cups, or b) they are so spoiled and entitled that I'm sure their mommy still helps them go to the bathroom...

I'm not complaining. The question was this game tested, is yes. These bugs were found along time ago. I still think the launch is going rather well. Compared to other other MMO's I have played.

Yet I did them and progressed.

And many more were unable to. I completed the Anchors in AD but thousands were unable to because they continually glitched. That does not change the fact that it impacts a lot of people and was something that has been ongoing for half a year.

Pretty dumb tbh the amount of quests that you have to either relog or just move on because they don't actually work? Sure the servers might be fine which is good for an MMO launch, but I really think it's pretty bad of a company to launch a game when main quest lines can't be finished because the quest doesn't work.

    HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

    Was this game actually tested?!

Did you play Age of Conan? Vanguard Saga of Heroes? World of Warcraft Release? Warhammer Online? Dark Age of Camelot?

    WAS THIS GAME ACTUALLY TESTED?!?!

Actually yeah. The majority of quests do work, and the amount of bugs are very minimal. Oh the bugs do make you very frustrated.

I'm nearing 100 quests complete and 6 of them bugged on me. 3 of those I had to log-out and log-in to fix on a different instance/shard. Same with the anchor points when they would bug.

But my game isn't crashing, I'm not getting kicked off, and everything runs fairly smooth on my 5 year old machine. I can use every ability I have, get groups for dungeons, and jump into PvP without any game-breaking issues.

    WAS THIS GAME ACTUALLY TESTED?!?!

Yeah. Looks that way... but I have a decade of MMORPG FAIL experience to compare it to.

Well, as I understand it the PTS testers, while a dedicated group of people, don't equal open beta testers in sheer numbers. Most of these bugs are because of high traffic (as far as I know.) Ergo, letting a higher volume test the latest client would have been beneficial prior to launch. Right now "early access" is starting to look like "last beta."

The sad part is most of the bugs related to quests were reported in every stress test going back to November, so it is quite sad to see them persist. This NA downtime might have been prevented had zenimax been proactive.

well, they did say it was about respawn time. During the beta, the mission that were bugged we not bugged for during early access. I believe they fixed it, just some unforeseen event.

So far (level 20) I've only found three bugs, two quest related (and one of those has been fixed now) and the other was not being able to interact with Mundus Stones (also now fixed).

That seems pretty reasonable to me tbh, I remember gw2 where I came across 5 entire zones where only the escort "events" (2/3 at most) were working, or SWTOR at launch where about a third of all BH's where stuck on their ship at the end of chapter 1 with no way of leaving

As mmo's go this has been a very good launch both stability and bug wise imho, and considering how bad the last big beta went I am very VERY surprised by that tbh

There are so many white knights in this thread, I don't understand why people think its acceptable for quests to completely not work at launch.

Yes, it was tested. Extensively. This release has been much smoother than most MMO's, now go drink your juice and take a nap.

@Nidums That depends on your idea of 'correctly'. I know i filed hundreds of bug reports in the last 8 months and there were several hundred of us on the PTS server during that time. So as far as testing goes, i'd say "Yes, correctly".

Now, if you had asked: "Did all the bugs actually get fixed?" then my answer would have been different ...

Hold up, forget the patch and all the bug reports.

    Just hold them back.

Everything worked for Yellowbone so the world is well, forget other folk that had problems. As long as Yellowbone is alright we can all rest easy.

3 quests out of 100 are bugged. I'd say 97% success rate for quests working, along with general stability and performance for pre-release is reasonable.

Quests being bugged are a bit annoying, but it's not game-breaking, you can come back and finish them when they are fixed.

Those 3 in the patch notes aren't the only ones bugged.

They are the only ones that are getting fixed. There are a few more that bug out.

And just to note, i'm not "whining" about the game ... the game I love, it's a great game ... i'm "whining about the bugs ... I don;t like bugs much, they don't give me a case of the warm and fuzzies like a quest without bugs gives me.

I wasn't on about the 3 they are fixing, I'm on about I've done 100 quests so far and 3 were bugged.

And the tone of the OP is whining. It's annoying to have any bugs, particular ones that stop quest completion, but in context it's pretty insignificant.

I'm not really whining just stating my point. I've only managed to not complete 2 quests personally. I guess I just have a higher standard and expectations coming into a game after playing MMOs for so long.

I really don't think that it's such a massive issue it's just a bit dumb especially for a game release.

It is very unfortunate that underlying technical problems were not fixed prior to launch. I get the feel of a 'ready or not' launch to hit a fixed deadline.

We are basically still beta testing it. But that's what the game world is like nowadays, might as well rail against the wind.

Things are noticeably improving and will continue to improve. I can see the great game this is going to be and if I have to be patient for a while longer than I'd like then that's what I'm going to be.

There's plenty of things to do other than questing if you hit a barrier (I have only hit bumps not barriers so far). I can spend happy hours crafting or exploring Cyrodiil. Or levelling different character to do other crafts.

This is, in my opinion, the best new MMO for some considerable time. It's going to be worth sticking with.

Yes, the game was tested from 1 to VR10. Bugs that are showing up now are most likely related to issues with population and phasing. A lot of the bugs popping up now were things that were fixed on the PTS.

I've played countless MMO launches and not once had problems where main quest lines just didn't work at at all, EVER.

I've played quite a few that the main quest lines were bugged on launch, or on expansion launch. So it's more common than you'd think.

Did you play the stress test beta?
If so, do you not remember the 1000's of bugged quests. The last test was the most recent build and they ironed out MOST of the bugged quests. Yes, its annoying, but it literally just came out.

@KiroElmarok Yes, I played the last two stress betas. I do agree that compared to the first, the second was relatively bug free. But those two betas were not the latest build. I must sound like a broken record harping on that but it really does seem like a mistake. Every bug I've heard people complain about (I'm playing DC) was directly or indirectly linked to a high pop doing that particular quest.

But, eh, what's done is done, I suppse.

Yep. Mostly ironed out in Glenumbtr now, still got Ghosts of Westery that I can't finish.. so I just went to stormhaven. (Cleared glen 100% if that 1 quest was done.)
