Is Templar bad or Sorc too easy?

So I recently ran a couple of Trial Dummy DPS tests.

Test 1: My "Main" character.
Build: Magicka Templar - Deadly Strike Daggers (front 5/5) - (Perfected) Whorl of the Depths (4/5 front, 5/5Greatsword backbar) - Zaan Monster Mask - Velothi Ur-Mage Amulet
Full bar setup with dots, jabs, and beam. Heroism pots for maximum Shooting Star casts.
Result? 110k DPS

Test 2: This Sorc (that I've been using as a bank until ESO+ free week let me use crafting bag)
Build: Stamina Sorc - 5/5 (non-perfect) Relequen on body - 5/5 Advancing Yokeda (2H Sword) - Storm Fist Monster Mask.
Both pets, Daedric Prey, Hurricane and a couple of dots on back-bar. Spamming Wrecking Blow with Crystal Frag procs. Sustain not even noticeable issue.
Result? 106k DPS

No Mythic, no set bonus juggling, no Zaan, no Heroism pots (just Weapon Power/Crit/Stam); much, much, much easier rotation. Not even an execute modification, just more Wrecking Blows.
And it's almost the same level of DPS with like half the hassle.

With that out of the way I admit title was kind of baiting. I am not calling for Sorcerer to be nerfed(!!!)
- I just sort of had to vent because I'm slightly miffed that the Character I spent the most time on, the one I have the most experience with (PVE and PVP), the one I've spent the most time and resource to gear-up and perfect (litterally and figuratively), the character I've poured thousands and thousands of gold into stacking with Heroism pots... just barely ekes out higher DPS than a cookie cutter, 5-6 button StamSorc with mostly purple-quality gear and an old monster set.
Oh, and the Sorc build also gets to have 30k hit points and Major Resolve...

Okay, rant over  and I apologize for taking my trashy outbreaks to the forums.

I think it is central to ESO's well-being to critique the developers when they change the game (or fail to change something).
But the negativity can be exhausting, so I vow to post 50/50 negativity and appreciation.

Wait until you play a meta build arcanist.

Some classes are easier than others. Templar is by no means hard, but it's not exactly easy to get top-end dps on it after the nerfs in u35. Stam Sorc has always been a pretty easy entry class for high dps; its damage floor is higher if that makes sense. Easy to hit top end numbers with the right build; frags + wrecking blow + prey + pets + atro on the front bar, hurricane and a couple other dots on the back bar (trap is good, there's a few good options here), and you can do good dps with a good setup. Arcanist is pretty similar in that regard, pretty easy high end damage.

LOL. I was expecting a wild "nerf" thread. The difference is the dummy versus a trial boss like Oaxiltso in VRG or Captain Vrol in VKA. Not overly difficult bosses, but ones that can strain your rotation and resources.

Its funny you picked those two DD builds. I played a magplar as my main magicka DD and a stam sorc as my main melee DD for about 2 years until Arcanist came out. There is a noticeable issue with sustain on magplars since the massive changes. They can be overcome with a solid raid group.

Stam sorc hasn't really changed, its that other classes (Arcanist, Oakensorc) have become easier to play to put up similar or better DPS numbers, so they have fallen off the radar. Of the two, magplar is better at keeping the rotation and damage constant in boss fights like those above because the rotation is easier, there are more DOTs, and the obvious part where sweeps heal.

Data based on dummies is not representative of actual combat.
The following is the damage record of eso logs (top 100):
    Sanity's Edge-Ansuul the Tormentor: DK11, Necr4, Templar2, Arcanist83, NB0, Sorc0, Warden0

    Dreadsail Reef-Tideborn Taleria: DK3, Necr0, Templar13, Arcanist84, NB0, Sorc0, Warden0

    Kyne's Aegis-Lord Falgravn: DK5, Necr0, Templar6, Arcanist88, NB0, Sorc1, Warden0

    Cloudrest-Z'Maja(+3):DK14, Necr1, Templar13, Arcanist71, NB0, Sorc1, Warden0

So, NO! Sorc can only get good damage analysis on dummies. In the trial, Sorc is obviously one of the bottom classes! Templar is clearly in an upper-middle position.

Yes cause if sorcs use pets they can’t sprint like the player. They just jog to enemy till they are at range. Plenty of fights have it boss jumping around in the arena. But the pets do make good meat shields and if you get cc or do a mechanic

Sorc better hit harder, it has terrible aoe dps, dumb pets, no debuffs or buffs built into the damage skills, and multiple mini game skills which these dummy parses never like to highlight.

If they can't be best at single target and they're terrible at aoe, why bring a Sorc beyond Minor Prophecy which NB can replace with Minor Savagery.

This is a big issue with ESO's design. Every class has to be the best at dummy dps in the communities opinion, but we never look at how they achieve that dps or what that dps is capable of.
    • Does it give debuffs?
    • Does it give buffs?
    • Is it easy to sustain?
    • Is it an easy rotation?
    • Is it aoe or single target?
    • Is it from dumb pets that aren't reliable in real content?
    • Can those same pets die in anything outside a trial or 4 man dungeon?
