So..when are you guys adding a furniture bag to ESO Plus?

It's getting rather tedious having to rent 27 U-Hauls just to have access to my furniture when I want to decorate a new house. Having something similar to the craft bag would be nice to hold all that pesky furniture. I get there is a want somewhere in all of you programming to force us to play inventory simulator but I think it's time this gets a real look at

Didn't they say that database issues prevented it? People often compare the request to the existing crafting bag but it's not the same thing at all as the crafting bag holds items that are routinely stacked while a lot of furnishing items are routinely held singly.

That's just as I recall and understand it, hopefully others have a better memory and understanding of such things!

It goes without saying that subscribing is the key to inventory management issues for those who don't currently subscribe.

ZOS will not add it because they seem to be trying to store the furniture items themselves in the furniture bag which will eat up a lot of space on the server. What the need to consider is just storing them like materials.

Where the total amount of said furniture item owned is tracked while destroying the actual item when it goes into storage. That way the players could store thousands of furniture items without it taking up much space on the server as it would just be tracking the total, not the items, or their IDs and everything else.

Then when the players want to recall the furniture item from storage the count is lowered and the item is then respawned into an actual item with IDs, etc. that exists in the players’ bag.

Agree with @umagon here. Treat the "stored" furniture like mats and just spawn the item in when it is withdrawn vs actually storing items.

This is easier with furniture than, say, gear, because they are always going to be the same. My Redguard Couch and xzy_ESOPlayer_yzx's (not a real player that I know of) Redguard Couch are identical items and not subject to all the variables that gear is.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here but personally I'd rather furniture items were 'entitlements' rather than 'recipes'.

No need to create endless IKEAs to hold them. Just 'summon' them from the menu as and when required.

It would go easier on the database too as no one would need to keep tons of unused furniture around.

exactly what @Umagon said. Furniture just needs to act like the armor collections tab where the materials are stored, and the furniture can be broken down for materials.

I cant believe that having a ton of 700 slot homes filled with unused furniture is easier on the database than a collections tab.

There is no reason to accumulate thousands of furnishings, most of which will never be used in a house. The only furnishings I have stored are bound ones that I'm unable to sell the excess of. I only craft or buy a furnishing when I need it for a specific project I'm working on, and rarely a few lux vendor pieces if it's something I use a lot.

I don't understand where players are getting multiple large houses full of furnishings in the first place unless they are actively crafting or buying items they have no current need for.

    • Antiquities
    • Changing builds
    • Contests require new furniture items made
    • TOT banners
    • Weekend vendor collection for future use. Its cheaper to buy from the vendor than guild traders months down the road.
    • No way to deconstruct furniture, yet the cost to make much of it is extremely expensive. Same reason people do not deconstruct or vendor gold armor/weapons

Most of the excess furniture I have is not from crafted things, but leftovers from purchased houses (trees, rocks, bushes, etc), antiquities and left over parts from making new builds.

For those of us who are into housing, this stuff adds up fast.

I've purchased 31 houses and all are fully decorated. If a house comes with items I don't want or can't sell I destroy them. It's easy enough to find more rocks and bushes if I ever find a real need for them.

I've only ever purchased a furnished house once and that was the first house I ever bought before I knew any furniture crafting patterns.

Things like ToT banners are earned once per character so those aren't taking up several houses of inventory, plus they stack.

I also destroy the Daedric arch antiquity thing after I dig them up because that is a something I will never use in a build. So I don't keep every antiquity if I know I will never use it.

We don't have to keep every furnishing we find. I am very much into housing and have never had a storage problem because I don't keep what I don't need.

Many of the crown purchased homes come with rocks/plants that can only be purchased with crowns. It makes no sense to sell them/destroy them because if one needs them in the future, they will just have to buy them again.

I have never purchased a furnished house, but all purchased homes come with a myriad of furnishings that often do not get used because the vision/goal/design for the property may not align with the furnishings.

I destroy/vendor a lot of furniture, but some of it may have a future use and not all of it is as easy to get.

TOT banners take up a reasonable chunk of furniture space, as they are not stacked when placed (and my storage chests are already full with stacked items).

Furniture is no different than gear sets and ZOS saw a need for the gear collections tab. Its our job to express to them that a need for a furniture collections tab has merit.

How many ToT banners can one account accumulate?

And gear is different because a player had to rely on RNG to replace gear obtained through dungeons and trials etc. if they destroyed the piece, so there was a real need for hanging on to these. They couldn't easily replace them before the sticker book unlike furnishings that can be purchased or crafted.

It just comes down to managing inventory and not letting it fill up with unused furnishings.

    26 banners x 20 characters = 520 slots...more than some home can hold with ESO+

The crafting materials for many furniture items are extremely expensive, not everyone makes the gold necessary to buy those overpriced crafting materials. Holding onto a piece is the only real option, especially becasue there is no way to decon furniture for items like armor.

And I disagree that armor is different because the amount of sets one may use pales in comparison to the various furniture items that a single home can make use of. The amount of furniture in game far exceeds how many armor pieces there are.

There really is no reason a furniture bag should not be implemented. The issue is already bad now, and will only get worse with each update. It would be better to create system now than to wait until its undeniably necessary (and I would argue we are already there).

I'm, with @Pixiepumpkin here, when decorating I frequently craft/buy several different items whilst trying to fill a particular area.

I keep a stock of every single item that the Luxury Vendor sells.

When I purchase a house, although always unfurnished, I immediately clear it, I have seen unfurnished houses with over 100+ furnishings in them!

I would love a furnishing bag but tbh I can manage without it, however I will not sell items I have crafted for less than they cost me to craft and I also will not sell items that use expensive materials to make, I have been stung by that before, so now I just store everything.

I do question whether ZoS could save themselves some serious server load by implementing some kind of furniture bag though...... I have a house with 700 lights stored in it, my PC hated going there, the fans went crazy but I turned all the lights off and now it's fine.

I am sure I am not the only one, I am not at all technically minded as far as item storage is concerned but I do wonder how much of this furniture storing is dealt with server side and how big that impact is?

There are VERY few items from unfurnished base game homes that are crown store only. I've probably studied that better than anyone else, because im collecting these items. I dont have a number in mind but from the top of my head i would say there are not more than 20-30 items from all the homes which are crown store only. Some few imperial ones, a bunch of plants and rocks and thats it. Some of those furnishings (mostly Vvardenfell ones) can even be found overland in plant/alchemy nodes and are not even available in the crown store. So they dont really count.

All the other plants, shrubs, rocks and all that stuff can mostly be bought for 100 or 250 gold from some vendors. There is absolutely no reason to keep any of these.

    2. Crown Crate furniture items can not be purchased at guild traders, OR even later on in the year. They can only be had while the crates are for sale. As an example, I have 20 snowfalls from the all maker crates.

There is absolutely no reason to not include a collections tab for furniture and find it odd that a housing enthusiast would be against it.

Honestly the amount of data it takes for a furniture bag it the Item ID and the number of the amount of how many times you have that item. Thats proberbly a few Kilobytes or Megabytes per player I guess. Depending on how many items you have of cause. I'd honestly be interested in how big an entire player profile is per account. The only thing that speaks against it, is how the data structure is done on the server side and how the gameclient handels it. Depending on how it was initally programmed it is more or less effort. But generally speaking that is doable if you actually want to do it. At least from my point of few.

Really all I need is furniture decon.

If I could melt them down for some materials then I'dd be happy getting rid of most of my storage stuff. But so many bound furnishings that can't be sold, and so many things crafted in the hunt for a good build and it's just overhwhelming.

I'm at 5x700 slot storage home, plus a few 200 slots ... so well over 3000 furnishings that I am holding onto.

Thank the 9 for decotrack & housing hub
