So... it's going to Skingrad this year... As a housing enthusiast, I'm of course always particularly interested in new structural furnishings and new furniture - but from this perspective it doesn't sound very exciting at first. What will await us? Leyawiin 3.0 (after the style in Gonfalon already went in the same direction)?
Necrom and Apocrypha were truly glorious in this regard last year, but what's to come this year? Bosmer stuff is long overdue - one more reason for Falinesti....? :)

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's about housing.

    Thank you for your understanding

I agree regarding Skingrad vs Apocrypha. There were so many Euro-ish stone-castle aesthetic DLCs the last few years that Skingrad itself doesn't excite me. But I didn't play the game it featured in, only saw images. People who did said they really liked that city, so I'm curious about it and hope for the best.

I AM very excited about the possibility of amazing new Valenwood/Falinesti tree and plant-related items :) I hope there will be more forest-shaping sort of things like the old vine throne, house pods, trellises, etc.

It's really high time that we finally get better Bosmer furniture and structural furnishings! The previous Bosmer furnishings are just... awful. I wish for furniture in a kind of Art Nouveau style, that would fit the best imho.

I'm looking forward to Skingrad. I expect it's going to look a lot like TES IV. Solid, stone-built buildings. Hopefully some solid, high-spec Imperial style furnishings as well.

I also hope we get Rosethorn Manor. I've an Imperial or two who are looking for a better home.

I didn't like Leyawiin and its mock Tudor style. Altogether too cheap and lightweight.

I love Leyawiin and High Isle styles. I'd like to see more of that. Roofs, gables, doorways, arches, wood floors, etc.

I hope we get a higher drop rate on any structural (and otherwise) furnishings in the new chapter. I hate having to wait until the random furnishing envelopes come out to get purple plans even when actively farming, due to that and extremely high prices at guild traders. It really dampens my enthusiasm for housing anymore.

I’m hoping for a LOT more Apocrypha structural furnishings — ramps, maybe a spiral stair, a glass dome, etc. I would also really like structural pieces from the Morrowind Dunmer themes.

We got SO MUCH of the primitive stone Druidic stuff all last year so I hold out hope.

As for furnishings in the next year’s theme(s), I hope we will get, as we did with Blackwood’s Leyawiin, furnishing elements that were sorely lacking in the game — Leyawiin added much needed food upgrades and domestic touches such as laundry and there are so many more such things we could use.

What we do NOT need is yet more sets of basically Western style bed, nightstand, etc., etc. — we have sooo many to choose from now, even some quite ridiculous, like the Apocrypha spiked bed. We don’t need more beds unless they’re actually different like a futon, kang, hammock, or something else.

Speaking of something else, I do hope that we’ll get a lot more Bosmer furnishings and nice ones, like after the style of the wonderful tree with amber “stained glass” windows! :)

If it is Leyawiin 2.0 I will be very disappointed. Not only because Leyawiin was very lacking in items, especially structures, but because that is supposed to be Nibenese and Skingrad is Colovian, who are supposed to have quite different looks.

Because of Colovia's focus of the military I hope we will finally get some target dummies, archery targets, weapon racks, armour racks and much more.

I also hope they will put a little more effort into them and not just recolour like they did Leyawiin and High Isle.

Also, bosmer furniture. A lot of bosmer furnishings. Which I hope despite the "Not part of the Green Pact" bosmer hints, will actually be Green Pact friendly ones, and show the creativity and skillful crafting of bosmer. I want to see fancy tables made from the iridescent shell of a giant beetle. I want intricate hand fan made from colourful insect wings. Long drapes as seen in Eldren Root made made from leather and silk. Leather, bones, horn and other similar material molded and beautifully carved in all manner of ways. Actual giant trees with big and wide crowns. Bosmer pods, bridges , pathways, walls etc of living wood so we can make our own Green Pact friendly bosmer structures.

I'm very hopeful for a mix of Ayleid, bosmer, and Colovian style furniture. Especially the first two. Ayleid stuff for the longest time has always been either stone or the occasional metal grates so based on the livestream today it gives me hope that we'll get alot more ayleid stuff made of wood, cloth and other materials that normally would decay over time.

Bosmer furniture has been needing love for a while. In particular I would love a nice big 3-4 cushion couch that your character could lie down on made of leather with bosmeri style bone and silver fittings.

Finally I'm interested in seeing how ZOS does a take on colovian furniture with Skingrad. Historically speaking the Colovians have been portrayed as being more austere and practical compared to the more ostentatious Nibenayans.

Yes I'm SO excited for the possibility of autumnal Conservatory items, like autumn versions of the vines - which are already in base game and Infinite Archive.

And that Wood Elf area they showed that's all overgrown looked AMAZING. The vine streetlights and other stuff I hope will become housing items.

I'm really feeling hopeful for more Ayleid furnishings, myself! The Skingrad city also looks like nice new Imperial structure furniture might be inbound, which I am all for.

The furnishing QoL additions make me jittery with anticipation :D maybe it will be the weather control device this time!! I really hope we get more customisation options, like weather, and music, and more degrees to visitor permissions (e.g. exclude a specific door from interaction permissions while otherwise allowing visitors to interact with things, etc. Would help a lot with conserving slots if you didn't have to block places you don't want your visitors entering.).Things like save/reset a house which a lot of people use addons for would also be greatly appreciated.

    Fingers crossed :)

Really? I thought Leyawiin introduced a lot of items we didn’t have before, including better food items. As for the style, wouldn’t it make even more sense for Nibenese and Colovian to have more similarities than Bretons who live off on their own island? And it would make sense there could be significant differences in aesthetics, etc. between the second and fourth eras, right? That said, I also hope we don’t get recolours of furnishings we already have plenty of — the usual beds, nightstands, etc. — but give us new furnishings we’ve been lacking, including weapons and other types of target dummies as you mentioned.

Definitely hoping for some well-crafted Ayleid and Bosmer furnishings! And I have been waiting FOREVER for those Ayleid archways!

A lot of the structures in the trailer reminded me of Leyawiin, so I'm not particularly excited by that in terms of novelty, even though it's a nice style (and that update gave us some really unique components that we didn't have before, like the wainscotting for example, so maybe they will do so this time around too), hence I'm hoping there will be other styles introduced as well. For Ayleid items, I'm hoping for more furnishings like the stone entrances to delves that have the constellation decorations, and also more varied types of furnishings in that style, since we mostly have benches and bookcases. For Bosmer, I'm hoping more furnishings in the style of structures we see in Elden Root, like those massive intricate windows on the sides of the upper floor. I'm not too worried about furnishings though, because in the last few years the Housing team has really knocked the ball out of the park in terms of designs (Druidic and Apocryphal designs were brilliant), what I'm mostly hoping is some change to furnishing allowances, and I'm not talking about the limit per se, since this is not likely to happen, but at least increasing the number of collectible items for instance, or introducing compound furnishings that count as one item, like a desk-bookshelf set (though with these there will be the issue of not being able to place them separately), something that can give us fuller houses despite the slot limit.

Food items, yes, but structures were very lacking as my comment says. No pillars, no platforms of the wooden floors, no brick walls. Like compare the amount of Solitude and High Isle/Galen structures, it's very little. I also expected more elaborate things for Nibenese, a culture that is often described as gaudy. I was hoping for some mosaics and painted stucco walls. The painted stucco walls we don't have access too.

Neither Colovian, Nibenese nor High Isle should be alike. That's my point. ZOS has often just done recolours and some minimal changes to furniture between some styles. Seen on things like the Leyawiin Bookcase, Grand Filled and High Isle Bookcase, Wide Carved Filled.
Architecture doesn't change significantly in aesthetics over that time period, at least not in a stagnant period setting like Tamriel, and stone buildings.
They also comment how Skingrad is supposed to be a bit more fancy than Colovian style usually is, but what I saw in that trailer didn't really look that fancy. Couldn't even get some copper roofs like base game Colovian buildings, or some paint on the wood. It all looked very brown.

I am enjoyjng the medieval look of Skingrad. It should work well with leyawiin and high isle stuff.

I'd really like to see some roofing options, gables etc to create our own buildings.

What I'd really like to see are pre-fab rooms and cooridors built on a grid so we can easily make custom homes without using a ton of furnishing slots.

I have spent more time in creative building games over the past 10 years than any other genre. ESO has a real diamond in the rough regarding housing. The sad thing for me is that I know what needs to happen and how easily it can be done.

I agree it'd be nice to see variation. But it is also helpful when things are somewhat alike at least in material color, since that allows for more variation in building and cobbling by mixing styles.

For example, the High Isle wood furniture is beautiful, but a lot of it is this rich warm wood that just isn't going to cobble or match well with most other styles.
