sharp's handmade fishing lure not showing the illusion

So I have Sharp's handmade fishing lure in my collection, and it says there "A nightwood fishing lure in the shape of a minnow, decorated with a black feather. The illusion enchantment activates with bait and water, enticing fish with writhing flashes of color. Permanently grants the passive "Sharp's Patience" to the bearer."

The lure that is showing when I fish is still the red and white bobber. Also the permanent passive "Sharp's Patience" doesn't show up anywhere in my advanced stats. Am I missing something? Do I have to do something to activate it? Is the permanent passive supposed to show up on my buff bar?

Thanks. I thought it was working due to the number of rares I was getting but am disappointed there is no change in the lure. Ah well, what can you do. Happy New Year
