Does anyone use this armor late game? Have you maxed out all the bonuses which I think goes up to 9 pieces? I think it makes a good low-level armor for a new player.

No one uses it in PvE endgame. If there's an open spot, trainee gives more health than druids braid.

The only time I've used Druid's Braid is when using a 5-3-1-1-1-1 build for PvP, but that's pretty rare.

    5: front bar 5-piece set
3: backbar 5-piece set (so only 5/5 on backbar)
1: Mythic on shoulder or head piece (ie Gaze of Sithis)
1: Monster piece set for the 1-piece set bonus
    1: Trainee for the health
1: If you don't need 1400 Magicka from Trainee, literally all that's left is Druid

It's rare because it requires you to be using one of a handful of Mythics that rule out a monster set, either not wanting a weapon set or needing a 5-piece set to proc only on one bar (like Mechanical Acuity), not wanting Agility/Willpower, AND not needing that 1400 Magicka from Trainee. I think I used it on one battlegrounds build with Gaze of Sithis lol.

For example, 1-piece Magma Incarnate + Trainee + Druid's Braid is 124 Mag Recovery, 124 Stam Recovery, and 2400 Health. Is that actually worth more than 1700 Max Mag and 200 Spell Damage from Willpower? On my build, I thought so.

It really should require like 1 trait researched instead of 7, so that new players can equip more pieces as a reward for researching. Then again ... by the time players are researching crafted sets, they're way past that point.
