Warden - Endeavors - Kill 15 with class skills - what am I doing wrong?

Ok... I'm not a noob.. mostly.. and I've been logging in to do endeavors every days since they started doing them. So I understand that companions can kill steal. And things like LA/HA don't count as any as near as I can tell. I know that using a non-class DOT can steal the kill. blah blah blah.. I'm sure there are more... which is why I'm here.

Tonight I chose to do my endeavors on my main who is trying out Al's one bar warden build. I killed a few... and the class skill line doesn't move.

Ok.. that's fair. So I strip all the non-class abilities off my bar. I've got the birds, the little bugs and the big banging bugs and my bear. I go clear a camp. Now.. I have nothing but warden skills on my bar. No companion other than my class companion. But out of 21 kills... I got 5 towards the endeavor.

Why? What mechanic am I missing?

Thank you for your non-troll responses.

I have that issue with Pillar of Nirn and Stormfist proccing on my DK so I have to quickly spam Lava Whip on snakes and insects.

Just use the cliff racer from distance.

And sometimes a companion can get the killing blow.

My first thought is the bear taking the kill...not sure he counts as a class skill (the ultimate possibly, but his auto attack prolly not)

My experience is the bear doesn't count. I don't have her out when doing this endeavor. It works just fine if you only use the cliff racer.

I don't get your question. Are you saying I'm being cruel? If so, I think it's more disrespectful to answer a request, from a fairly long post, without taking any effort to read it at all.

Of course you are correct, I am the disrespectful one in this thread.

I'm not sure, but - since you already know Companions can steal kills, it's likely the same with pets like the Sorc pets or the bear.

Try again without the bear summoned.

I never have problems getting this on my warden, but then again I usually just go flinging birds at rats and get it that way.

My experience with Sorc is that kills by my combat pets DO count, but I don't know about Warden combat pets.

With any specific type of kill-- by class skills, by weapon skills, etc.-- my biggest problem is when other types of damage give the killing blow, so I try to avoid using anything except the stipulated type of damage. For instance, I try to avoid using light atracks or heavy attacks, because they're "core combat" damage and won't count if they give the killing blow. Other types that can give the killing blow without counting are bleeding damage and bashing damage. I just keep my finger away from the mouse buttons and keep spamming the number keys which are assigned to class skills.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Well if no ice, it's pretty much dive, scorch and swarm and their morphs.

I haven’t tried it on a warden, but I don’t get credit on my nightblade if the monster set procs and kills them.

Fine if you like that. I have never, in any game where it was available, been interested in "ice mages". I feel about them the same way I feel about necromancers....

I find the most reliable method is only to use class skills, no weapon skill or light/heavy attack contributions at all.

I'd use only class skills on your bar. Head over to a public dungeon and use shalks on a few mobs; I find places like Crimson Cove and the one in Reaper's March (something Demesne) are the best for this. FWIW, even as a Warden main, I do this endeavor on a Templar because jabs.

Well there is an option that the enchant or status effect got the killing blow. When i do this on my DK with only class skills i still kill 30% - 40% of enemies with proc of burning.

Uhn, never tried to get that on a warden... or a sorcerer, actually. No class AoE spammable on either.
So, no idea what you might be doing "wrong".

Its *most likely* similar to other kill mechanisms in this game where the damage source must provide a certain percentage of the damage contributed towards the kill.

Pelinal's Festival is really bad about this as if -your character- does not contribute majority of the damage then you won't get credit for it on the achievement.

Almost certainly the same for what is going on here with the damage needing to come directly out of class skills.

One of the easiest places for class kills for the endeavours is @ Dragonstar wayshrine, in Craglorn. Loads of sheepies for 1 hit kills with the skill of your choice.

Almost certainly the same for what is going on here with the damage needing to come directly out of class skills.

For the class skills endeavor, the class skill damage must get the final blow, regardless of how much overall damage it did. The problem is so much else can get in first - light attacks, glyphs, procs, status effects from skills and procs, etc.

Templars can double dip here - if a class skill and Burning Light both hit the enemy at the same time and it dies, you get credit for two kills on the same mob.

i just kill 1 hp critters for these types of endeavors

the monkey shrine in auridon has an easy port being next to a wayshrine (monkeys rest)

i find that the easiest way to get these achievements done because its a 1 shot, stuff like enchants and procs cant go off because they occur after dmg is dealt
