PvP Tier List

Abelcher339b14_ESO
Been about 4 years since I've play and I am looking to get back into the game.

I use to 1vX in imperial city a lot and I am looking into doing some battlegrounds. I have every class except arcanist and necromancer to 50. In your opinion, what classes are best to achieve my goals of Imperial city 1vX and battlegrounds?

Also, what's the new meta sets? Seems like rallying cry is worth looking into.

wardens and DK are pretty potent still, mainly for their defensive power

NB are still there as gankers, though most wont engage people who have 35k+ max hp

arcanist are pretty up there with wardens and DKs in terms of survivability

i dont have a lot of advice about 1vX sets as im not really experienced in that kind of setup

Rallying cry, wretched vitality, order's wrath, dragon's appetite, draugrkin, master dw, vate ice, maarselok, balorgh, serpents disdain, mechanical acuity, shattered fate 5 piece, death dealer's fete, sea serpent's coil, gaze of sithis, marykn ring of majesty, brp dw, maelstrom 2h, rush of agony, master 2h, master ice

Those are most of the best sets

Stam sorc is pretty easy to 1vX on due to mobility, same with hybrid brawler react style magblade.

Wardens and arcanists have a lot of survivability but also rely on proc sets usually for decent damage.

Templar damage is fairly low with the exception of some specific dueling builds (which likely won't have the necessary survival in a 1vX scenario) but has solid survival.

Necro is trash so unless you are a masochist I'd suggest avoiding that. All the necro mains I know are beyond unhappy with the current situation of necro.

Dk has great damage and good defense.
PC NA @gariondavey, BG, IC & Cyrodiil Focused Since October 2017 Stamplar (main), Magplar, Magsorc, Stamsorc, StamDK, MagDK, Stamblade, Magblade, Magden, Stamden

Approximate state of the current meta.
But if you are a good player, you can get decent results on any class.

This is pretty accurate. NB and DK are best for current meta. NB is higher damage, DK is more survivable.

Basically any build will be better on those two classes, and they have zero dependencies on using whatever the current "meta" sets are. Both have builds that cannot be replicated by the other classes.

So I don't know why the following perception persists, but some (significant) portion of the population think that NBs can't gank a tanky player.

    This is completely inaccurate.

NB has received buffs that have boosted their damage.

In BGs I played a 37k HP Stamplar, with 30k armor frontbar, and competent NBs can put me under severe pressure if they have Incap Strike up, and the ult cost is super low.

i never said that they cant gank a tanky player, but the majority of people i know who do play a NB in pvp wont even engage someone who has more than a certain amount of hp lol

i personally play a NB that has 28k max hp with food and some NB can still fail to gank me, so the success of the gank is more on the player skill and the gear setup of the ganker

    DK (easy mode)
NB (best defensive and offensive kit in the game)
    Sorc
    Warden/arcanist
    Templar
    Necro

NB (harder to play than DK, but has higher potential)
    DK (easy mode)
Arcanist (close to DK, just no obnoxious crutch like corrosive)
Warden (very good spot right now outside of the 1 polar spamming build)
Sorc (well proc sorc using MDW + WoF or bow + rele specifically)
    Plar/other sorcs
    Cro

NB is stronger than DK in the hands of a good player, but DK is easier to play than NB is. NB has gotten significantly easier to play though since the last 2 patches thanks to the buffs it got that were disguised as "QoL improvements".

Arcanist is probably a little bit on the strong side (not NB/DK levels though), but really only due to the issues with hard CC lately having bugs preventing breaking free, once that's properly fixed Arcanist would be in a good spot for PvP. Also understandable for this class to be strong currently since its the new class in the game.

The only issue with warden is polar wind, outside of that specific morph, the class is in a good spot for PvP and at a level that all classes should be at in terms of overall power. It could use a couple of QoL improvements such as faster speed on dive projectile, but that's not power related and more how the ability feels to use.

Proc sorcs are strong right now, but mostly because people turtle up as soon as the proc sorc starts attacking instead of attacking the sorc back. Sorcs healing is notoriously bad as are its defenses outside of streak, but if you let the sorc sit there and parse on you like a trial dummy, then of course they are going to look strong.

Plar and sorcs (who aren't the MDW + WoF or bow + relequen proc based sorcs) are on roughly even footing when it comes to their overall power levels. Sorc has better offensive capabilities, but its defenses are non-existent outside of streak, while plar has solid defense capabilities but lacks in offense outside of beam.

Cro just needs help. Better blast bones AI, faster skulls projectiles, better tether mechanics, in class access to major sorcery/brutality, decide what damage type its pets count as (either DoTs or pets, not this strange both but neither that they currently count as).
