Almost 8 Years of PvP, my Main is finally a General

Just hit it tonight. Had no idea it even came after Legate 2, I was just aiming to rank up since I was a hair's breadth away in AP, but when I checked and saw the Star, I got SO stupid happy. I feel like a real Veteran now, even though I've never switched Camps this entire time. I don't even care at all about reaching Grand Overlord, I'm just so happy to have a Star. I feel...accomplished.

I have my old Guild to thank for even getting me invested into actually trying to PvP years ago. I'm a PvE care bear at heart, but those guys lit a fire in me to at least put effort into learning how to fight other players. If it weren't for them, I may have never bothered with Cyrodiil, the Imperial City, or Battlegrounds. Those evenings we spent dueling over and over in the Guild Hall have paid off.

Not to mention the rest of you reds. I'll admit, 80% of the time you guys carried me, I've always been a squishy glass cannon build, and I've gone off in Zone a time or two but when the red tide starts flowing we have a helluva time, and I'll always continue to be your Anti-Nightblade Nightblade if you keep rezzing my corpse.

In the end it'll be a surprise. I stopped caring much about Alliance Rank and just fought whenever the urge struck me. Like I said I had no idea General came after Legate 2, I just saw one night that I was really close to ranking up an decided that was my goal for the session.

I actually care more about earning AP for my Alliance War Stamina Potions fund than ranking up.

I’d love to get to GO though honestly. I’ve been playing since beta and always character jumped based on what my group needed so I never got a high rank. Now I’m focusing on one character.

You got it just in time! PvP is dying hard and it’s difficult to get AP ranks these days without pulling your hair out.

Congratz. I'm glad you arent one of those trolling the below level 50 pvp and keeping new players from learning how to play by dominating with maxed gear builds in below 50. You should get 2 stars in that case!

congratz OP, your getting there, those last couple stars are a big grind

i managed to finish pushing to grand overlord earlier this year

earning the AP isnt too hard if you go to where the fights are, it just takes a lot to get through that last bit

you earn 50% of the AP needed for grand overlord by rank 40, so those last 10 ranks are really grindy

Ohhh no, CP are my crutch, every time I try playing Battlegrounds it's torture compared.

Not to mention, I've slugged all the way to General using basic PvE DD builds. My StamBlade currently wears Balorgh, Leviathan, and Order's Wrath for a Crit Kitty build. Full on glass cannon.

I mainly do bgs and ic, so ap gained per hour is drastically lower than if I only did cyro.
My main (templar) is rank 46.5 (3 stars, part 2), after just over 6 years of playing. I've got 6 alts all rank 20-32 so that's set me back a bit, but getting to 50 if you aren't specifically ap farming can take quite a while.

Congrats! Tbh I think ZOS should create customizable uniforms with rank distinctions (mandatory in Cyrodiil).
