Population Cap Increase: Cyrodiil

Why is this happening now?

The games been out nearly a decade

And I still can’t play competitively in Cyrodiil at peak times due to it being way too laggy and unplayable.

So why increase population to make that even worse?

Cyro pop caps are WAY, WAY, WAY too low.

ZOS has not stated that their goal is to increase Cyro pop caps either. They haven't stated a goal.

At release pop caps were 600/faction. Now they are clear down around 80/faction, which is WAY too low for a stable competition between factions.

It's WAY past time ZOS prioritized Cyro at least a tiny bit and brought the pop caps back up to at the very least 125/faction.

I have ZERO proof to back up what I am about to say but this is just my "vibe" I am getting (been playing since beta and play PvP daily in Grayhost).

They have been working on the hardware refresh for the past year or so. Last week they had an extended maintenance for network stuff. Now out of the blue they are talking about increasing the player cap. All of these things seem like one off things but if you lump them together I get a feeling 2024 will be a heavily focused PvP year.

There hasn't been anything of real value added to PvP in many.. many years. The PvP community's is constantly the loudest ones in the room (myself included) so maybe they haven't wanted to officially announce anything until they are confident in whatever hardware/server/network stuff they are working on behind the scenes.

That's my long answer to your "why now" question.
