Under-50 BGs are fun!

Pointing out why I like them, encouraging others to try, and maybe there are some points that could potentially make full level BGs more fun:

I took part in more BGs this past weekend to level and try out more Arcanist abilities in combat — yes, there were lots of players also playing Arcanists, but at least at this level, that didn’t make the difference in which team won. The biggest factors as far as I could see were the PUG teams that managed to stay together and work together better, and some skilled players stood out to me, most often nightblades.

I like under 50 BGs because the fights are often longer, it’s not insta-death and wait to respawn ad nauseam. This is more enjoyable for me and I feel I learn from it better as I’m seeing what my abilities do to opponents and likewise learning what abilities to watch out for from my opponents. There are very very few of the lame gimmicky proc sets. I think I ran into someone wearing Dark Convergence in one BG, but it was by far the exception. Finally, the matches are quite varied. The best are a close three-way contest, but there were also ones where one team was by far stronger and the fight was fiercest for second place. I enjoy close matches the most, but so long as everyone’s queuing solo so no one’s always on a losing team (when particular players perhaps carry more weight in who wins and loses) then I’m happy.

For context, I try to go decently prepared, gear assembled from drops supplemented by my crafter, usually blue, and I’m often pushing how long I am wearing it. Plus my PvP ability is middling at best; I’m not there to newb stomp but to play against people closer to my ability level and learn from those who are better, and beat me primarily with their abilities and strategy, with gear and proc cheese a relatively unimportant factor.

Anyway, I enjoyed Deathmatch weekend and hope that others did as well, whatever level you play at! :)

Not gonna lie under 50 BGs and U50 Cyrodiil was once very, very fun because no monster sets, no dungeon sets, mostly just overland and crafted and no lag. One Midyear lowbie was locked and no lag at all... it was bliss... then U50 died lol. Back to lag.

I like under 50 because most people are just wearing whatever and not using optimized builds. It's what I do with my characters too under 50. They wear whatever they find, of all different levels and sets, and I slot skills I'm leveling not skills to optimize a build.

It's all fun and games until you meet the professional under 50ers who keep rolling and deleting charcters just to play those bgs and in cyro

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

don't agree with arcanists, i'm perma-stunned levelling a character. as soon as one goes another arcanist starts another; so many and strong. killed by beams a lot. agree nb is good which I am levelling. no shadow slotted.

it has been fun with dm weekend. need more of them.

I like using my AP and wealth from other toons and maxing out 'twinking' a sub 50 toon. Squashing new players like the peasants they are.

Not really, I find no challenge in this; but for some reason I see many players do this very thing.
CP2332 +3100 hrs spent in BGs. US PS5 - Nine PVP Tanks - toons named variations of "Combat Medic" I like long walks on the beach. What's PVE? https://www.youtube.com/brakkish

That isn’t at all what I’m doing, nor would I enjoy it. Sure, I’m not a total newb, but most of my experience isn’t in PvP, and I’m not maxing my gear by any stretch.

I encounter some players who are clearly stronger, more skilled definitely, better geared, surely sometimes. I enjoy the under-50 BGs because I feel like I’m about average — so maybe I suck at PvP. I can accept that, but I won’t get better if I don’t try, and I feel I learn more if I’m in the fray long enough to at least try a few things and not instantly stunned and deleted.

Under 50 bgs are a great way to level new toons and get used to skills. I have always enjoyed doing it this way. I also usually do it while leveling Psijic. Many players can't be bothered doing Psijic multiple times cause they find it boring. But the skill line does take you near skyshards. So grab skyshards while waiting for battleground que to come up. It's win-win. You can break the boredom of the Psijic and skyshards by playing a battleground. And then you have something to do that is valuable while waiting for the battleground que to come up again.

There are a few twinks. Not many, but some. You can tell who they are because they will often leave the game before it is over. Though some might re-roll and start over, they basically don't want to gain experience. So they don't want that massive experience you gain from doing the daily battleground.

But don't let that keep you from enjoying. There are quite a few new and experienced players who are having fun just leveling new characters. They are just trying to get to level 50 in an enjoyable way which pve doesn't always offer.

Yep. Always felt they were ESO's version of the Kill/Death Ratio player in GTA Online or COD. Yay, you can kill noobs.

Yup it's fun to farm weaker and new players. It's fun to feel powerful and unkillable. Always liked this.

You necroed my thread to be insulting? This is totally NOT what I was saying but you obviously didn’t read my first post so no reason to waste time repeating myself.
