Has anybody had issues completing the “Red Petal Bastion” Dungeon in Vet mode, getting error 318?

I have opened a support case, but thus far, it has been less than helpful and is more of an exercise in futility. For people who don’t know, error 318 is an excessive spamming of in-game messages. It will kick you to the desktop and advise you to stop spamming. All three of us have experienced the issue. Yet we are using Team Speak and don’t use in-game messaging at all during the "Red Petal Bastion" Dungeon.

What the ESO support team has had me do is turn off add-ons, add an exception to my AV for ESO, do a clean reinstall, and make sure I am not using a VPN. All though I followed their advice. This seems completely ridiculous, as we all have the same issue. We have different OSes and are vastly geographically located using different ISPs.

Here is what is odd or a little different. I imagine most people queue, and we don’t do a normal dungeon queue. We had only three people in the group, so we manually entered the dungeon in the vet mode. All three of us are DPS. We complete most content this way, but the dungeon is different. I know support wants to make it something wrong on our computers, but I believe this is something in the game or at least how we play. Has anybody else experienced this same error 318 when doing the “Red Petal Bastion” Dungeon in manual Vet mode?

    My partner and I ran into that issue with normal RPB when we ran it as a duo recently, just in the boss fight against Rogerain and correlated with when we returned to normal from being a goat (it was a fun race to see if we could spawn back in before the other person crashed lol). It was our first time doing the dungeon so we both were doing the quest, and we both use addons. We traveled to the dungeon directly because you can't queue for just a duo.

    From the little I looked into it, error 318 has misleading wording. Rather than messages to chat, it refers to messages from your game to the server. So anything that can cause your game to flood the server with messages all at once can trigger it. Two possible causes I saw were lag causing messages to pile up and then get delivered to the server all at once, and malfunctioning addons.

    My theory was that in our case it had something to do with the combat metrics addon we both use interacting with the goat-to-humanoid transition, but I haven't tried anything to fix and/or replicate the issue. Sorry I don't have more answers but I hope this info helps.

    I've had this at least twice in this dungeon. Once with a 4-man premade on veteran and once as rnd with 3 random players.

    Thank you, both @M1SHAAN and @Katheriah, for your responses. This is the first time I have ever seen this error was in the dungeon, but it has now happened multiple different times only in this dungeon, and my group of three people is in the high 2k+ almost 3k CP, so we have seen all the good, bad, and ugly with this game, and we still love it. This is a strange error, and I wish our ESO support would take it more seriously. Instead, the first order of business is misdirection and blaming the problem on your personal equipment.

    Yeah my friend and I tried duoing normal Red Petal and that goat boss kept disconnecting us after we changed into a goat.

    We would have been able to defeat him if it weren't for the disconnects, but because he kept crashing us to desktop (and causing the boss to reset) we had to abandon the dungeon as we were getting nowhere.


    I did submit a ticket to support at the time.


    I feel like he does this on purpose to avoid being defeated, the jerk.

    yah i know this is off topic but i feel the same way about the black market group event where it suddenly ends and you've no idea why because you were at full health until the game magically resets. Makes it hard to solo. Different issue entirely but same frustration. Eventually i did 'solo' it with the help of my companion...


    It's a shame the dungeons are so glitchy as they are the most creative part of the entire game. doors dont open, cant complete quests because npcs dont appear, CTD aka blue screen of death on windows....

    Thank you. Since posting this forum thread, I have tried a Mac with no add-ons and two different PCs with Windows Pro 10 and 11, and I have three different ISPs at my house that I use for work. They all have the same issue. This is not a computer or networking issue. The problem I can find is that it usually happens when two or more people get turned into goats more than once.
