How to set up a pure crafting account?

Hi
,I recently started one. I didn't had the chance to invest more time than to skip the tutorial so far and start mount training. If there is already a not too old thread to this topic I definitely did not find it. So sorry if I missed it.

What's the best way to get em started for daily writs only?
  • I only chose Orcs for the 10% bonus to inspiration
  • I thought about leveling them to lvl 10-15. Mainly for the Continous Assault Skill and for some basic Skillpoints.
  • Then getting enough skyshards to being able to max Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworking, Jewelry and Enchanting. (at least as far as needed)

Do I need to get those professions to 50 right away? or Do I wait till they get up by doing daily writs?

I already checked for the resource demand to do so. I don't think it's overly expensive but the mat amount is a bit higher than my reserves and it will be a bit annoying to get all the necessary amount....

What equipment is needed?

I'd go for pure speed setup. Can't think of anything else actually.

What to do with the surveys that are going to pop up?

I already know that some are really not worthwhile doing right now like the ones for enchanting. And I think I won't have the time to collect them...so save em or scrap em?

Add: I want to get those accounts started with investing only the most basic amont of real cash than possible.

Theres bound to be a myriad of ways people will explain from the community, but this is what i do. But with the resources i have available i normally get 8 characters to level 10 get certified, then do random normals on all once per day. Everytime i finish a dungeon on one i put a piece in research then decon the rest, move to the next. Ill move intricate over to max lines also alchemy and provisioning ingredients to max those, glyphs to decon to get that maxed. By the time they all get to cp160 they will have a bunch of skill points from dungeons and levelling to atleast take care of hireling and top level crafting on ww/bs/clth.I normally equip all with adept rider with swift trait and steed mundus all divines for daily writs.

I was thinking about also taking provisioning. But only due to the hireling. Sadly alchemy has none. Except this shadowy supplier skill. that should be the closest we have to one at the moment.

The ones I'm considering are the most comfortable ones I think. and easy to manage without filling my bank space too quickly.

If you need some help maxing enchanting/provisioning or alchemy leave me a message here, i have plenty of resources for that and ill connect with you ingame, dependant on whether you are on pcna or not of course though.

That's a kind offer. But I have the mats for alchemy and provisioning. So no need for that actually. Maybe someone else out there really has need of a donation. Still thanks :)

Are you doing this just to generate gold or does it serve another purpose?

If it's just gold, you need far less than you think. Characters only need to be level 6 at most, no extra skill points are needed. You need to get enough skill ups from deconstructing to get to skill 10 in every profession so you can skip the certification quests. Doing base 1/X or 10/X is no different in how much gold you get, just requires higher materials. Staying 1/X is enough as you spend 11-16 mats and get back 20 out of the material boxes for Iron, Jute/Rawhide, Maple, and 7 Pewter. You're also guaranteed to get the next rank mats of Steel, Flax/Hide, Oak, and Copper. I wouldn't even bother going above 1/X until they are maxed 50 when you get a consistent refresh supply of the starter mats vs having to juggle different ranks.

Provisioning and alchemy don't require the character's name on the items so you can mass bulk craft them on a single character and distribute them to others. Alchemy has the pesky requires 3 other items that you need to look out for. Enchanting 2 out of 3 dailies require Oko, so that is the only reason to keep enchanting surveys.

I would keep the surveys and have one character max out everything, then decide if you want to split the mats they gather or all pure max rank. With that one character with max rank can send the Ruby and Platinum back to your main account that has all the CP and points spent for better refining.

I started this crafting account to generate gold. So that's the purpose so far. My main account is grand master crafter. But adding any more toons is not possible. And it would be a bit more expensive than starting a new account :)

I'll probably get provisioning up and later on alchemy. I'm just no fan of too much micro managment. That's the main reason why I wanted to skip on those two professions.

thx for the input so far.

Create one character with a speed build. This will be your survey mule and primary mat farmer. Max the speed and carrying capacity of this toon first.

Learn the basic motifs on all characters (blue one)

If gold generation is important, go imperial on some of your crafters. Though it won't be a large impact it helps.

Start doing rafting daily writs at base level. Max level is preferred, but some writs are better than none. But I wouldn't advance beyond level one until you Max the skill lines. alchemy, enchanting (master writ generation only) provisioning, Jewelry, clothing, blacksmithing, woodworking. In that order.

I assume that you will be sending master writs to your primary account so research while nice, is not a focus, but do it eventually. Same with motif learning

Crafting writs follow a schedule o you can pre-craft all of the needed items for speedy turn ins.

Edit: careful with the farming of crafting writs... I started down this path and I'm like 50 accounts deep now..

I did max my secondary account by now. except for alchemy. And I have to admit that crafting at a base level till maxed out is a lot more comfortable way to do this. After going a bit up in the skill tree of the professions it became a bit complex to keep track of everything. Despite I kept the toons on the same skill point distribution.

For the next account I will definitely stay on base level until the skill lines are maxed. It sounded simply too different from other mmos I played. So I tried that first. Took a while to get 8 toons up to 50. Takes ages, it's annoying and expensive.

I followed most of the advices so far. At least to the point where it wasn't too difficult to keep up with increasing mat demand.

Starting crafting acc definitely takes time and motivation. Even when I invested lots of mats in my alt acc it will produce earnings in about -i guess- 3 weeks max. Should be a nice bonus to what my main generates. :)

And thx to everyone who gave me a reply.
