Awful, terrible changes to UI

It looks like someone at Zenimax "fixed" what wasn't broken, and it really has messed things up.

I can't make my tools/mementos quick slot work with my mouse.
I can't SEE my own inventory, except for what I'm currently wearing.
There's all kinds of unnecessarily large text clutter in the game now. Chat has moved to the right and is in the way some of the time. Loot report is on the left (used to be on the right) and is too large.
What the hell is going on here? I can't play the game like this.

    I can't even use the Wayshrines.
    The Map doesn't let me see any zone other than the one I'm currently in.

    Possibly I'm stuck in Gamepad control mode, and I need to go back to Mouse control mode.
    How do I do that?

    @goatlyonesub17_ESO Navigate to Settings -> Gameplay. Next to Gamepad Mode, turn the Gamepad Mode option to Off.

    This will switch you back to mouse control.

    Problem with doing that. The Gamepad setting is ON, so that is indeed the source of the trouble. However, the Settings/Gameplay/Gamepad section is written in darkened text and is not clickable/functional. I saw a message saying that the section is overridden by accessibility settings. So the difficulty goes a level deeper, and I need further assistance.

    Settings -> Accessibility -> Accessibility mode OFF... hopefully that's what you're looking for!

    Nevermind. Problem solved. I went into the Settings/Accessibility section and turned Accessibility OFF.
    THEN, I went to the Setting/Gameplay section and turned Gamepad OFF.

    I can play now. Thanks.

    You might want to edit the thread title to better reflect what was happening, so any other players who run into the same issue will be better able to spot this thread and see the solution to their problem. :)
    I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!
