Ask in guild anybody for an rnd, get some answer from 1 to full group, queue and go.
Yes its a bit more work than new life
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    I reject the title premise.

I like this event. My elf enjoys soloing a pledge (normal, non-DLC) or two every day anyway so it fits right in to her plans and daily routine. Looking forward to getting the new costume.

I think the title of this thread is not true. The Undaunted Event isn't the worst event. At least not the event itself, if you take into account what OP wrote about his experience with rushing. The problem is more or less the behavior of quite a few players doing dungeons and how this behavior is amplified during this event (the rushing). Therefore I think the title should be changed from *Why Undaunted is the worst event* to *Why the Undaunted event shows that alot of players are Mega JERKS!!!* :) .

Btw., there wouldn't be any problems if the Devs would finally do something to stopp the stupid rushing, like for example:
    • overhaul the terrain, so that all short-cuts/exploits are closed for good
    • make it so that if mobs are skipped, they will spawn at the boss and receive a 1000% dmg increase buff (including the boss itself)
    • make it so that certain doors etc. can only be opened be using a switch/lever, which is located in an area that normally would be skipped (for example the boss room in WS, the one which is a dead-end on the left side from the *Flame-Boss* at the stairs)
    • make it so that you need *ALL* bosses for the Quests (random and pledges)
    • etc.

Yea the skipping every mob part is so annoying. I only play tanks and i often loose my mind when i aggro minions (not the typical skip ones) and then i see low cp players rushing away leaving me to clear the mobs alone.

Its totally disrespectful to me, since they never say a word or ask if its okay to play as they wish. Newer players often get confused then and dont know if they should clear with me or follow them to the boss and as a result the dungeon is ruined for everyone.

But since i dont want to get angry anymore (eso punishes calling someone out but not having a horrible attitude), i just leave the dungeon and hope they will have a horrible long and frustrating dungeon experience.

I enjoy the Undaunted Event. Short queues for random normal, so lots of transmute crystals and event boxes. Still find it curious that many random normal, I end up getting Fungal Grotto 1 or Elden Hollow 1. At least those don't take long.

Over the weekend I was getting a lot of the base game dungeons (As I previously posted) but I'm now getting a lot more DLC dungeons. Yesterday was my first run through Bal Sumnar and I also had Icereach and Scalecaller Peak.

Maybe there are a lot more non ESO+ players on the weekends who don't have the DLC's.

But yeah, never pug a quest if you actually want to finish it, event or not.

On my necro healer I would queue for dungeons specifically that I hadn't ran yet just to do the quest for the skill point for when I hit 50 (already had CP200 waiting for me). I did it for the exp from the dungeon using exp scrolls obtained through daily log-ins or from level up rewards AND so I had the extra skill points. I literally printed out a JPG I made where I combined the "specific dungeon" selections and simply crossed dungeons off as I finished them with the quest completed. People should not be penalized for wanting to do a level appropriate dungeon with a quest in it simply because some a-hats want to rush to the last boss so they can speed through for an event reward.

I've actually had a-hats do that when I didn't even need the quest (daily random for the reward bag) but got left behind for the exact same reasons @lillybit listed for this even sucking so bad. In fact last night I was running a daily random normal (I believe its Blackheart Haven or whatever one where the last boss turns people into skeletons during the fight and it removed all of your stuff on your toolbar while you're transformed) and the tank did nothing but run ahead of everyone until he had to stop to fight a boss before being able to go through a door to get to the next area. He was a fake tank. He was CP 1200-ish. He had self heals. When he died he would pop up and continue on. Everyone else including me died repeatedly and were unable to get onto the next area before he ended up pulling another boss which locked us out of reviving because of the whole "can't release while an encounter is in progress" bull. One of our DPS left the group about 3/4 the way in. The replacement ended up in the same boat we were in even though he ported in where the tank was in the instance. I was 50 CP200 while the two dps were both still leveling. I think one was 39 and the other was maybe 31. Even with me and the other DPS speaking up at the very beginning that he needed to wait, he never once said anything nor did he slow down or let us catch up. The ONLY reason why we were able to get even 1 hit on the boss was because he died and we were at the door before the last boss's area. We still all died other than the tank right after we got to the and did a light attack so we could tag it. I was spamming TF out of Radiating Regeneration just praying to the dark one we each made it there in time to get the kill credit. Once the boss was dead the tank immediately left group while the rest of us were dead. I went through over 40 filled soul shards in that run alone. My only saving grace was the fact that I had a stack of 200 on me already filled prior to that run.

Well, that may sound like a reasonable idea. But, I experienced that kind of system some time in the past in another MMO (don't know which it was  ). The result was, that no one was able to do quest related stuff or collect stuff (here in ESO it would be eg. Lore Books), since everyone was pulled back together. At the end that system was removed, because too many were unhappy with it :( .

The only - more or less - reasonable solution for the rushing to stopp is to make rushing impossible by relocate NPCs, so that you can't elude them, close terrain exploits, so that you can't use shortcuts anymore, place switches/levers for doors so that you are forced to go to places/areas you would leave out without them, to open those doors and make it so that if you still skip adds (or if they get stuck in walls, because they followed you and ended up falling through the terrain  ) they will spawn at the boss with a 1000% damage buff, pulverizing the rusher and the group, before despawing and respawing at their original location  .

Here I can only say the following...

If you get such a person, tell them (as you did) that he/she should please wait for the group and if that person does not respond or act accordingly, VOTE-KICK that person from the group. In your case I would have voted for a kick the moment I noticed the combination out of rusher + fake tank. Such players and their behavior must not be tolerated in anyway what so ever!!! And if that wouldn't work, because someone may not vote-to-kick, I would have done the same thing you wrote a DD did - leave the group immediately and be done with this messy *** .

Certainly, there can be some groups and players who are a bit - lets say - special or some players still can be new to the game or to dungeons and to those I am considerate. If I can and they want to, I am offering also some help. But unreasonable, intolerate, inconsiderate, rushing players, they need to experience zero tolerance and thats what they get from me :rage: !!!

I don't usually weigh in on things, but I really think @ZOS, needs to do something about The Undaunted Event . It's terrible for lowbie players. Especially new players. They don't know what they are doing and get no chance to do the dungeon quests or even figure out what the dungeon is about because so many high levels feel this event is for themselves and screw everyone else, run the dungeon as fast as possible and leave the newbies wondering what the heck just happened. It's awful.

Just remember though, YOU have the power. The KICK option is there for a reason! Kick the rushers, kick the fake tanks/healers. Unless they were smart enough to bring a friend; then all you can do is either rush along in the wake of the speedy Gonzaleses or leave and be punished with a 15 minute wait... Kicked players don't have to wait. They ought to wait too. They were usually kicked for a reason.

It's not just during the event I know, but this event really brings it out, the difference between lowbie players and selfish high levels. Not saying all high levels are selfish, I've had some wonderful pugs that were very helpful and I am not a new player so I know what I am getting into and usually leave if ppl rush things. But it is really sad and frustrating to think so many new players will be put off by this behaviour.

In the end though, I think the rushers will be the ones losing out, because no new players in the long run, means no players doing dungeons then the rushers will complain they have no one to run Scalecaller Peak with. Well guess what? That lowbie you scared off the game in that dungeon you rushed? Might just have been someone you could have done vet dungeons with, IF you had given them a chance!

i have been too busy to be bothered with this event but THIS is how i do events/dailies that require a dungeon:

    - have 3-4 characters (healers) that are under lvl 45 (i think dlc dungeons start then in the random rotation)
    - make gear for them
    - don't do anything with them after dungeon queue unlocks...park them in the city near bank.
    - run randoms with them and never get the hard/long dungeons and never do the dungeon quests...you do not want to level fast!
    - delete them and remake when they get too high of level.
    - might need a toon to just hold the crystal/stones containers...you can max out super fast.

i delete at lvl 30. this will keep you swimming in transmute stones so much that you will be reconstituting crap just to spend them.

Im going to touch on this for a second. Im an endgame Dps but i just built my first ever tank. It is hugely frustrating because im not ready to tank at a vet level and i am unable to get any experience in a normal because of 2 situations:

    1) is the mad rush

    2) is the fact that dps constantly take agro from me and then complain when they get hit, this goes for low level players as well and im not just talking about vets with new toons this goes for newbies as well in both cases.

The caveat to situation 1 is that this is obviously not the ideal time to be doing this with the event however the second one happens regardless. I got better experience 2 manning nbrp with my buddy who is an experienced dps which is unfortunate.

How though? You can skip it completely. No overland content of any kind is effected nor are dungeons. You have to physically que specifically for pvp to be effected. Personally i love it for one very simple reason. It allows me to max out my alliance skill points in a ways that i really am not forced to make a true pvp build. I have them, i pvp sometimes but its a pain to do that the rest of the year tbh.

I'll just add a few episodes from my experience on PC EU:

Queue DD, 7 minutes, made a part of companion quest on alt.
Earthroot normal. While I'm getting quest, 3 guys (both tank and heal fakes) are breaking into the first stack.
When I caught up to them, they were still on that first half-alive stack and one player already died once.
We slowly crawled through the dungeon...

Queue DD 11 minutes, almost finished companion quest, got invite in the middle of public dungeon.
Bal Sunnar normal. Fake tank with Flawless title runs through to the door, kills almost everything near the door, starts the boss...
He dies on 50% without block and healing (healer is fake too) then ragequits.
We ran the rest of the dungeon fast enough with tanking companion.

Queue DD 4 minutes, I'll never run though that PD this way.
Graven Deep normal. Healer and tank quits the second they see a dungeon. We run duo with companions.
It was not the fastest run but it went way smoother than ones with different fakes. We are laughing and thanking each other at the end.

Another char, queue 16 minutes, digging antiquities.
Coral normal. "Fake tank" tank shouts at start and runs in stack with bow light attacks.
"Fake dd" I answer and switch to the questing build.
Another dd works fair and bosses are sitting on him, so I feel a bit ashamed. Well, it is his choice.
I offer some gear at the end and dd accepts it. At least some compensation :)

Queue 18 minutes, digging more antiquities.
Earthroot normal. Everybody stands before the first stack. "Tank, your turn please" said I and then battle starts :)
Well, tank was very young but fair. Second dd was in cool outfit and mostly used bow light attacks. My mediocre dd made 70% and it was irritating a bit.
I felt pity for our fair healer, who did his best but we progressed very slowly. After the run healer quits without a word.
I checked my inventory, and found golden weapon there... I forgot to switch from my questing build and ran the whole dungeon with it. What a shame :#

PC NA pledge - FG1 vet
Fake tank and real healer. All stood at start and asked, if we all ready to run to the second boss. So sweet.
Agreed, ran as a group and cleared the whole croud of goblins from the right corner. That was better than many premade runs here.

    • etc.

Wouldn't it be easier to just require that all groups remain within a certain distance of each other? So if someone runs ahead, they get teleported back to the group. And if the group splits into 2, then the front group can't do anything until person #3 joins them. With exceptions for dungeon mechanics as needed.

This would more likely end with you being teleported to said group. Unlikely they woud do this. If a player goes afk or dc's you get stuck.

Now with the Group Finder comming out in update 40, I hope and believe there is a chance to change all that. I will use it to help people out - thinking new player´s here.

It´s a possitive thing ZoS did, adding the Group Finder.

Probably will help. Sounds like basically a Craigslist for groups. You can set your own parameters.

Yeah, the upcoming group finder looks like we are finally able to specify our needs regarding teammates.

That's a good thing and will hopefully solve the problems some of you have with grouping atm without killing off the fun for others.

You see, no need for rigid rules in dungeons, no forced roles and no unnecessary disciplinary action against players but simply a choice to let us play how we want.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I really wish there was an Undaunted public dungeon option for those of us that don't want to group.

I think you also get boxes for doing the daily bolgrul quest, so there is an option for solo players, which can't solo any dungeon.
