Liking the Fungal Grotto 1 event?

So I have done 6 random normal dungeons today on my level 50 cp 1800+ character, and 5 times I am given either Fungal Grotto 1, Elden Hollow 1, or Wayrest Sewers 1. One time the random queue gives me Castle Thorn. A little variety would be appreciated ZOS, just saying. My sticker book is full for FG, EH, and WS.

Maybe don't queue for "random", but for the specific dungeons you want to run?

i'd prefer the fungal grotto 2 event with no skipping so we can do the shepherd and get conqueror achievement honestly.

someone let me know when that one starts

i do dungeons alone during the event.

i imagine lots of either new people or people with new characters are queueing for dungeons which is why you get easy base game dungeons

I have solo farmed the sticker book out of Unhallowed Grave and Stone Garden since the event started.
Did not bother queueing for anything since... well... forever. Doing so would either put me on a dungeon with sets I do not care about, or put others in a dungeon they would bail out of instantly.

The random normal queue for either healer or tank is often very fast on PS/NA during this event. And I sometimes gets nice stuff from the event boxes, so more boxes is better. I'm not sure I need anything from the dungeons at this point, mostly just filling out sticker book.

Probably right, new players or time of day.

Side story. When I got Castle Thorn once for the random, one of the four players dropped out, without saying anything or leaving the starting area. The rest of us in the PUG did Castle Thorn with a companion, so it worked out fine for us.

I got FG1 three times today. Prior to today I was getting a variety that actually leaned toward harder dlc dungeons. I don’t know what makes today different.

The "random" queue is rarely truly random. The random queue often just fills for players looking for a specific dungeon. If they don't care about the XP or transmutes, or if they have done the random already that day, players will often queue for the shorter and easier dungeons like FG1, WS1, EH1, etc., so they can get their Undaunted event box quickly. Therefore, the random queue will skew toward the dungeons people specifically queue for. Even the Castle Thorn was probably not truly random. Someone probably wanted to do it, for the skill point or to farm Crimson Twilight set, or something like that.

I've found this event to be more enjoyable by rolling solo in normal dungeons to farm sets that I still need for my sticker book. Unfortunately I'm getting to the point where the dungeons that I still need require two players to complete. *sigh*

I'm in the same boat, although it will still be a little while before I fill up my stickerbook for any dungeons.

With the dungeons that require at least two players because of mechanics, sometimes I'll go ahead and solo them as far as I can. I often get at least one or two set items that way, from either treasure chests or bosses in the sections before the can't-be-soloed mechanics.

I've been doing 8 or 9 randoms a day, each on a different character, and am finding FG1 definitely pops up the most.

I'm also finding the time of day has an impact on what I get: daytime for me seems to give me mostly base game dungeons with an occasional older DLC dungeon (i.e., Mazzatun, WGT), while my evenings tend to give me mostly newer DLC dungeons (Icereach, Graven Deep, etc.).

I like this event. My elf enjoys soloing a pledge (normal, non-DLC) or two every day anyway so it fits right in to her plans and daily routine. Looking forward to getting the new costume.

I've been trying to do pledges during the event. The characters I feel can do the vet content get a group fairly quick. When I queue for a normal pledge even on a healer sometimes it never happens. If I select the pledge and FG1 I get a group almost instantly. Seems by my experience a good number of people are not queueing for a random dungeon instead queuing for the quickest.

I ended up giving in and risking some bad runs in random normal to see if i could get some transmutes via 6 characters. Mostly fg1 rush to the boss type of deal which was fine easy enough to kill all the mobs and boss in one go. Got dlc later on they went fine, moongrave fane came up "tank & heals" bailed i was about to since there might be a wait for others. I thought what the heck may aswell duo with the person who chose the dungeon, i was on the stam warden so no worries just had to explain some mechs on bosses along the way and worked out well made a new friend 😀

This. I’ve been the bane of people wanting base game dungeons because I keep queuing for the DLC pledge-of-the day on all three of my healers. This is the only time I can reliably get a group for same in reasonable time so I’ve been cramming set weapons into the stickerbook. Bonus, it fills twice as fast!

Motif pages are nice too, but I have all the set pieces in Fungal Grotto so I’m trying to avoid it.

Today you get an Undaunted box from final boss. That means to maximize your Undaunted boxes, you need to get to final boss as quickly as possible, then requeue. The final boss of FG1 is the fastest to get to. Therefore, just about everyone is queuing for FG1 over and over and over. Outside of event, you tend to get either a true random, or people queuing for harder DLC dungeons where they need the skill point or are farming certain gear, and your random is filling for their specifically chosen dungeon.

Also, people usually do their one random normal per day then move on to other activities besides dungeons. Today, even if they do a random normal, once that is done they queue again for more Undaunted event boxes. And since they already finished random normal, they queue specifically for FG1 since that is fastest.

If you are only running one dungeon per day, a 5 minute dungeon versus a 20 minute dungeon might not be a big deal. But if you plan to run as many dungeons as possible, all day long, the time difference compounds. No one wants to get 3 Undaunted boxes in an hour of gaming when they could have gotten 12 boxes by queuing for FG1 over and over.

I did a vet random just for the hell of it and got Castle Thorn. I farmed that dungeon years ago before "collections". So I went along. Not too much trouble, just had to get a third healer that stuck around. Completed it without too much trouble after getting a good healer. Turns out it was my first vet run on that dungeon. Wheeee...love the one bar builds that put out decent dps. For the first time, I felt like I was really holding up my end of dps output with a group of randoms.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it deals with an event.

    Thank you for your understanding

So far this event, for the once a day random that I've been doing on a low level arcanist, I've gotten banished cells 1, elden hollow 1,spindleclutch 1,fungal grotto 1,crypt of hearts 1,and arx corinium. The character went from level 13-25 so far. I can't complain about the variety.

i have been using this event to queue up for specific dungeons i still need gear for due to the effective double drops/tickets

finished at least 1 dungeon gear this event (moongrave fane) lol

still have about 10 dlc dungeons left with gear, and most of those im missing about 20 items each

Man I'd be thrilled if I got FG1 for every RND. I don't even queue for randoms normally because there's a chance of getting a DLC that takes 15 min or more. Rather just get it over with.

I tend to progress the dungeon to the point where two players are needed, and then I toss a message into guild chat to see if anyone wants to hop in for an easy complete a two more goodies in their sticker book. Works like a charm most of the time.
