I seem to be stuck with installing epic games launcher and then pointing to the path where i have 1.4 gb free ~/Steam which is a partition on a 2tb nvme drive. I even created a symlink! the symlink points to my steam directory for eso. but no matter after installing eso from epic i get nothing. just a blink on the screen and an error message that makes no sense to me.

Either launch the game from Steam, or put the file steam_appid.txt containing the correct appID in your game folder.

why would i need a steam appid in my games folder from steam i dont want to launch into steam from epic? is this for proton maybe?

who has done this and knows what to do next?

I turned off the auto-update in Epic Store Launcher, whenever there is an update to the Launcher or the Game, run it from Steam first since it's the directory of origin.

    ln -s "/home/[my user name]/Steam/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Zenimax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online" "/home/[my user name]/Steam/Games/epic-games-store/drive_c/Program Files/Epic Games/TheElderScrollsOnline/The Elder Scrolls Online"

i thought i could avoid installing the game again by symlinking still cant get game to launch

ok so in lutris i finally found that section to install dotnet48 so that eso would run. i think it looks better in that proton ge than in steam even.

so i just need to figure out where to put my addons. there is a documents folder i could find but it's not working from there. i put a symlink named My Documents in the folder under lutris that linked to the steam addons folder for the user i think is the right one. cooky. i cant figure this out now

ok so it's the steam user folder and it has a symlink but it's not symlinking to the actual steam user so i created the symlink i needed to the actual steam user's my documents foldeer with the elder scrolls online folder that has live and pts folders for the addons.

i may be ready to install minion now.
