One handed skill line pls.. concept

One handed skill line should have been a thing from the start tbh...

so basically you just weild one 1h weapon without anything in offhand and they change it so that having a weapon equipped ALWAYS counts as 2 set pieces..
k now to how i think the skill line should play

one handed skills will be swift enough so that the dps difference between not animation cancelling and animation cancelling is minimal while relying heavily on light/heavy attack weaving.
this ensures that the weapon will provide consistent damage and rarely have to deal with cast times...
also im moving the thrown blades skill from dual wield and putting it in 1h skill line because its dumb that im expected to put both my weapons in one hand just so i can throw measly blade id rather just run up to them and hit them tbh..

some examples of skills

Jab {quick skill weaved around light attacks and other skills)

slash (quick skill weaved around light attacks and other skills)

surge( there is this one combo attack that the one handing npcs on ic flags do its like three hits and this is pretty much that. so perfect for punishing stunned players prolly gonna be an execute skill)

thrown blades previously from dw skill line (because this is where it honestly should be)

arc (swift and short ranged aoe slash to hit multiple enemies)

Ult: idk maybe you reduce damage taken by a unique amount for a duration and reflect all attacks back to caster...

as for passives this skill line should give optimal spell damage in place of random effects subjective to weapon type and have counter attack type passives as well... 1h should be a meta damage skill line as it frees up the character to better use magic and certain styles of combat... also skills should feel very smooth to play and weave..

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I have a better idea. A cosmetic that makes a 2handed weapon look like a 1handed weapon with 1handed animations. Make it free during an event like the shoulders

The only argument against it is other players might be misled as to what you do. The counter argument to that is no player trying to do well would actually be using a single one handed weapon with no supporting passives. It would be assumed that they're using that cosmetic.

How exactly is that a better idea?? and i thought that making invis shoulders acquirable that way was also dumb...

    just.. no.

Because the real goal is to look like you are using a single one handed weapon, not have a whole new dps weapon tree that has to exist somewhere between the goals of 2h and dual wield.

the goal is to use a 1h weapon with one hand... a new skill tree would be better than some stupid cosmetic as that wouldnt add any real content to the game... and this is content that should have been in the game from the start if you ask me.

nothing about it existing separate from other weapon skill lines should be a problem...

Is that the real goal? haha I personally would want a proper one-handed skill line. I don't want current skills with a one-handed sword.... same way I want a proper spellsword weapon, and not just the hybrid "we can use stam based weapons" nonsense we have now.

Is a one handed HA faster than a 2h HA?

I would like a one handed skill line. I can use a dagger in one hand and punch enemies with the other hand.

I remember doing that back in guild wars 2 a year ago(they did have one handed and no 2nd weapon equipped abilities). The first 3 skills were one handed weapon/spell abilities and the other 2 were unarmed combos.

I wouldn't mind if eso gets something like this in the game.

the l/h attacks will stay the way they currently are when wielding one 1h weapon..

I'm sorry but I don't see this as offering anything to the game.... If they were going to add a new weapon skill line I would want it to be interesting and mechanically offer more to the game than what we have. Preferably a new type of staff, or a flail, or heck even a mini cannon hahaha!

But not an "I forgot to put something in my other hand" skill line which btw is technically already in the game. You CAN equip just one weapon and then load up your kit with various non weapon skills to achieve the aesthetic....

Yea there should be a one handed skill line, and maybe they can add an ability like zoros attack from one piece "shishi sonson" hehhe that would be cool.

    Thanks

It isnt just about the aesthetics.. Its about VIABILITY.. It offers enough to the game i would think for your average player.. you would get a set of skills that allow you to have a more aggressive and consistent direct damage stamina attacker while also having the freedom to cast spells with better base effectiveness than either dual wield or 2h builds via passives...

with one free hand to cast spells and a set of lightning fast moves that you can combo together at your leisure, you would realistically be among one of the most versatile weapons in the game.. How is that not good enough???

1h skill line imo opinion would probably be so awesome that they would wish that they could make people pay for it.. lol

Sounds more like 1hand and book, which makes sense. Adding a book weapon to the game would be perfect right now with arcanist. And it could perhaps be equipped with a staff as well, so there would be a lot to explore there.

Empty hand is simply already in the game, just equip a sword and nothing in the offhand. You can even change which hand if desired :) now load up class and guild skills and enjoy the loss of passives....

But book I can see legit working the way you describe and more as said

This is Zenimax we're talking about. They'll instead use the arcanist, with their book visual effects, as the reasoning behind why players do NOT need a tome weapon.
