Allow Companions in Cyrodiil

Would you like to have the ability to summon companions in Cyrodiil? Maybe have PvP focused companions that have beneficial PvP repeated skills? They could use siege weapons or even summon on of their own? What do you think?

would be awesome if cyrodiil allowed companions and assistants, but pvp focused companions seems less good

    Are you kidding?

Pop caps are already lower than they've ever been in the history of Cyrodiil.

they would probably be bad for performance for 1, and for 2 they would be about as useful as guards, except 100x weaker lol

i cant see any companion surviving more than half a second in an actual pvp encounter, or them doing anything meaningful

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

We cannot bring out an assistant or non-combat pet that supports this comment.

DC zergs would crash themselves before they can crash everyone else.

On second thought, maybe allowing it is fine.

    er, no thanks.

Packed fights are already a zoo-fest without companions provided yet another non-player target to absorb attacks.

    And other stuff already stated.

    I'd probably lean towards no.

That would be something you would need to test a fair bit to make sure it didn't go badly and my impression is the PvP population doesn't show up on the PTS much beyond dueling for PvP which kills your ability to get a real test.

Due to limits on group sizes, only solo players and smaller groups would actually be able to have companions which might act as a leveling factor against the larger groups. However, the larger groups have a tendency to lean heavily on AOE damage and explosions that scale on the number of people in the area. As a result, companions could end up as a liability rather than an asset.

You also can run into performance concerns on the more trafficked campaigns that have large numbers of players at a specific location.

You might also hit some issues where the companions might shutdown certain styles of play by reacting faster than a player.

Companions might situationally make downing a player more difficult due to the added healing or they might make it harder to bring down an enemy by providing CC immunity.

Back in the day, Cyrodiil used to have mercenaries you could hire but, they took the function out due to issues and never brought it back.

There is far too much siege going on, and less and less actual PvP taking place. The last thing we need are people with companions doing it to!

You do not understand the dangers of death in Cyrodiil. Certain Champion points, proc sets, and more can kill people when you die. Random players dying near you is NOT GOOD. I don't need companions killing groups too.

I can see it now... a sea of companions in a full zerg. Hundreds of bastions cry out in terror and are suddenly silenced 😆 but for real it would be awful for performance.

They don't proc it but they still contribute to the scaling.

Blight was BUFFED this last patch. A lot, actually. If you think it was nerfed you need to read the before and after again.

Why are you apologizing? You asked a question and got your response. This is the way. People, including myself, voting no doesn't mean they didn't like your post.
Anyway, back to the point, I don't really enjoy playing in a war zone consists more than 50 people, there would be chaos and I kill someone by chance or someone kills me when I don't see it even coming. Adding more units into the battlefield? No please.
