I really wish they would change that quest so that you either don't get to chose or if they do give you a choice the Prophet does a switcheroo so that it's always him. just makes the most sense for the Prophet to be the sacrificial lamb anyway.

Technically you come back with a hand waving excuse too. Merida playing the best game of soul frisbee ever.

Would be awesome if there were some Psijic shenanigans involved too. I mean, they like to muck around with time. Akatosh nonsense, Meridia soul frisbee (great line btw @Mik195 ) or even "An Elder Scroll made me do it".
    • Tybalt Kaine Khajiit Nightblade Aldmeri Dominion
    • PC/NA
    • Guildmaster- Lucky Raven
    • Knight of Marrow - Blackfeather Academy
    • Adepti- The Witches Goblet
    • Dragon Frog - Butterscotch Dragon Frog
    • "Nightblade healer huh? How does that work?"
    • "I drain the blood of our enemies and fire it into you. It's a lot less messy than it sounds, and yeah I'm basically a Vampire without the whole AGH FIRE BAD"

OP could you change the thread heading because it contains a spoiler for the main quest? New players won't be aware.

As to the question, unfortunately they come back. I'd have sacrificed them both if I could. Can't stand them(!). Still, they have slightly more interesting personalities in the chapters. Emphasis on "slightly": following them around is still like watching paint dry.

They return with the explanation basically boiling down to a massive shrug by either character when asked about it.

It was one of the most terrible writing decisions in this game in my opinion because it devalued a very important decision made by the player up to that point. I'm still not even sure WHY they brought those characters back except for the "sense of familiarity" they mentioned which doesn't even make any sense either when any NPC could have filled their shoes for the story.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it deals with a result of questing.

    Thank you for your understanding

Guys, it's not bad writing, it's not bad anything.

Your character is literally blessed by Meridia's Light (the shard at The Harborage) as a favour for defeating Molag Bal.

The shard doesn't just teleport you to another alliance's zone, it quite literally gives The Vestige the power to percieve time in a way that does NOT abide by Akatosh's rules, as time for Meridia is "relative".

In other words, you as the player are not percieving time in a linear manner and every time you travel to a different zone, you're traveling in time. This means you can come across people that have died in the past in irl time but ingame they're still alive at X zone/questline.
