When the Necrom chapter dropped, I (
@Nitewalker314) made an Arcanist character that same day. After creating them, they looked the same in-game as they did on the character select screen, and their sliders were exactly where I placed them during creation (despite not locking them). I played them quite a bit, and leveled them to 50 before making any new characters.
At the end of July (around the 28th), I made a new Arcanist character. (For context, they are an Arcanist version of a character I already have {Nevena Orelu}, with a new name {No the Wretched}. The sliders were exactly the same between the two characters upon creation and immediately after creation in-game. The characters looked the same, as they should've,... until they didn't.) I leveled the arcanist version to 50, as well, and noticed last night (08/16/2023) that they looked a bit different than I remembered rolling them. I had a spare Race Change Token on me, and activated it to take a peek at their sliders (I did not actually use the Token). The only one I immediately noticed as different was the height. Instead of being minimum height, where I had it, it was in the center, default spot.
I assumed I simply forgot to adjust the height slider when creating them, so I purchased an Appearance Change Token to adjust that.
Then, the more I looked at the Arcanist version of my character compared to the other version (a dragonknight, rolled a few years ago), the more I noticed how different they looked. And I -knew- I did their sliders exactly the same, having taken meticulous screenshots of the old version of the character to use for the new version. But somewhere after creation, to last night, the Arcanist version's sliders changed. (Note: the appearance did not change between the Character Select screen and in-game, it was the sliders themselves that changed and made my character look different from how I made them.)
In a big way. It was not just the height slider that had shifted to the default position, it was -most- of the character's sliders. The triangles, voice, hair, skin, and eyes remained where I put them, but every other slider was shifted to the middle. I knew that wasn't right, but I didn't want to remake them again, so I bought yet another Appearance Change Token to "fix" the character's sliders. This time, I ensured they were locked and triple-checked that they were correct before hitting save. The character now looks correct, once more, on both the Character Select screen and in-game.
After discussing with my husband (
@SolinarTheWizard), and another friend (
@EbonNord77), I discovered they -both- encountered the same issue: character sliders suddenly deciding to shift to the default position out of nowhere. My husband did the same as I did, and assumed it was an error in creation and purchased an Appearance Change Token to fix his character, while our friend has had to remake a character four times in one month because the sliders keep shifting to default.
I haven't seen any posts about this topic anywhere, but we all put in bug reports in-game for the issue, and encourage others to look at their newly made characters and if the sliders have also defaulted, to also put a bug report in.
