Access code prompt when incorrect username or password is entered

Platform: PC (standard game launcher, not Steam/Epic)
Region: NA and EU (not really applicable as the bug exists on account login)

We all know about the access code prompt. Legit reasons for it include:
  • Logging on from a new PC
  • Logging on after making a hardware change to your current PC
In these circumstances, an access code arrives in my mail as expected. The issue I am reporting here is that the access code prompt appears on an unsuccessful login attempt. Enter either an incorrect username or password and rather than the client telling us the credentials are invalid, it instead shows the access code prompt. Of course the email will never be received. I've had a few times I've wasted time checking for an access code that I'll never receive when actually I'd just fumbled my password.

Expected behaviour:
  1. Enter incorrect username/password
  2. Get an error message, invalid login credentials (or something similar)

Actual behaviour
  1. Enter incorrect username/password
  2. Get the access code prompt, but an access code is never sent

    Just wondering, does anyone know the likelihood of receiving a response from ZOS on bug reports in general? Or where can I check if any reports in this section of the forum are being picked up and tracked by a ZOS team?
