If I'm not interested in Motifs & Housing, what else can I spend my gold on?

One of the main things I like doing in MMOs is amassing loads of gold to spend on rare/prestigious items, such as mounts, skins, etc.

I looked online recently and saw a similar thread from a few years back asking the same question, but the majority of replies were "I spend my gold on motifs" or "I spend my gold on housing", and that was about it.

For someone that's not interested in housing and already has their character looking EXACTLY the way I want (so I won't need motifs), what else can I spend my gold on exactly? Is there anything rare & prestigious to save up for and spend gold on?

It would have been cool if there was a way to exchange in game gold for crowns like you can do on Guild Wars 2, as that would mean I'd have something decent to spend my gold on, but as far as I'm aware you can't.

My character's needs are pretty simple so she brings in more gold than she spends. Her biggest gold sink is getting any new monster helmets the golden vendor in Cyrodiil offers. Not that she needs them but sometimes the flexibility can be handy and , since she won't do DLC dungeons, makes for a reasonable gold sink.
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

Nothing. Enjoy not needing to grind and always being able to buy armor you want when changing builds.

Unfortunately most of the nice stuff in the game is tied to the Crown Store so if you want nice stuff then you'll need to use a trust based Crown trader where you give them gold and they gift items to you from the Crown Store. Failing that you could pay gold for a trial / dungeon "carry run" where you're rewarded with skin on completion.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

If skins etc are a thing you care about, you can hire achievement runs for them.

They WERE a thing I cared about, but seeing as I only ever play one character and already have him looking exactly the way I want, I can't see any need to buy new skins for him. That's for now though I guess... Who knows what cool skins might be released in the future that I'll prefer to what I'm using right now.

@Vanchatron Actually, trading gold for crowns is a big part of this game's economy, it's just that it's all done through chat and face-to-face trading. Though recent evidence and circumstances have made the legality* of such questionable...

Anyway, to answer your actual question: when the meta changes (and it will), if you're not interested in crafting (this isn't clear to me, as the Outfit system basically makes farming style materials, especially rare and obscure ones, a worthless endeavor, since an item can be crafted in one style, but be given the appearance of another via Outfits), then you will need to pay a crafter to make the gear you need.

Unless you're like me, and not too terribly concerned with the meta. ;)

*That is, whether or not it violates the Terms of Service (ToS).

How often does the meta actually change? Genuinely curious, as I saw a recent video on Youtube talking about the pros and cons of ESO and he said that he's been using the same gear for several expansions now as the meta hasn't changed much.

ESO does seem to be in an unusually long gap between meta shifts. In the past it seems like it shifted when ZOS dropped a new chapter with new gear sets that became the new meta, but Necrom seems to have broken that pattern. I suspect that there is something coming in a near future update that'll shift it, but that's just a complete guess.

you could devote the gold you raise to philanthropy, do giveaways in zone chat, perhaps for players under a certain cp threshold. how's your stickerbook? i've spent lots of gold buying pieces to fill it in a bit.
