Templar - what to do with it

I'm actually at a loss with this class right now, it just does no dmg with everyone having easy access to minor and major evasion, and jabs being noodles already, and the arena dot builds (I use myself on other classes) are just so much pressure even with extended ritual as it 3.5-4k mag cost to remove only 5 of a potential 10 negative effects applied for free/ very little cost by 1 player let alone out numbered, it just cannot be maintained and kept up with. The aggressor will always win this battle of attrition currently.
Maybe I have spoilt myself playing arcanist as it so ridiculously tanky with great sustain that requires little effort.

I'm doing ok with mine but I have noticed m ER cannot keep up removing debuffs when it clears 5, but elemental susceptibility alone, applies like 7 debuffs before adding in vate, and dual wield bleeds that are all the rage lately.

Meanwhile; POTL seems to just regularly be removed quickly if you even bother using it.

Seems all you can do is also utilize any pressure if those vate/DW builds and otherwise try to get to execute range and hope those help sustain pressure while you channel RO

I'm trying to learn to play a different class even though I've mained templar since the beginning. U35 was so harsh to templars they're not likely to ever be competitive again, at least not in the next year or more.

Pretty much the same as me, I do have all the other classes and playing more arc than anything right now, which to me highlights just how far templar has fallen

Well I am still a purist if sorts so I don't do the weapons. And we get into another problem. Since jabs is channeled; I found I want to go as much speed as I can because I can't sprint while jabbing, and anyone decent can just sprint out and only take 1 or 2 ticks with little investment; so I've got wild hunt, 3 swift, and steed. Otherwise; don't bother with jabs. And then when iu do that; it makes it hard to just dedicate 2 slots front and back bar.

So for pressure; I rely on elemental susceptibility by itself, and PBAOE from solar barrage (not enough but I'll take the 5%), and crescent sweep. Jabs is just there for a little extra and I only really spam it if I suspect a target is trying to cloak out. You might be able to work in blood mist or something depending on your preferences.

It's just small things it they add up. Might want to skip defense sets and look for damage and rely on HOTs from focus, ER, vigor etc along with HTD for emergency use

It's not ideal. I can make most other classes look better and more practical; but I find I just do better on my templar even kind of handicapped, because I'm used to it

Extended ritual should clean more or should be changed how clean debuffs. Maybe ignore short(4second) one and clean only those with long times (12-24) At first longer second others. This ability just work bad it's 30second on ground hot that is spammable most of the times it's just bad.

If they'd just revert Jabs and Backlash to pre-U35, the class wouldn't be in such a bad spot. What got us here in the first place was removal of both our burst and our spammable after all.

My favorite stat set to come out in quite some time. I wanted to like Stuhns before, but off balance means randoms with uncontrolled off balance applications can neuter you. I definitely have seen shattereds impact on targets though

Nirn and sharpened, escapist poisons. Those are also helpful for sticking on target

With this sort of PBAOE , staying in target is important. If they get away, you might be able to beam them if you had them down

    Yes. PBAOE DOTs.

Basically where you can beam players while other people hit them to keep them from getting out of execute range; I try to provide that myself

We're at a state where we just kinda have to play ranged magplar. Not that I mind the playstyle, but I would love to see the old jabs back.

Interesting. I’ve been eyeing Shattered Fate. Right now, I’ve been trying to keep the jabs dream alive with Mechanical Acuity and Rallying Cry.

I run in a group at least half my time. Often I'm off solo from the group rather than have 1 or 2 enemies delay the entire group, but it still hampers Rallying cry if I stay in to find them again after I'm done, and I don't want to bother with trying to change builds when I'm operating outside of the group entirely. Then when I'm with the group, I don't like to play around the MA burst window.

Your build would be better 1 on 1 though; I think

Admittedly I still want changes and buffs to the class but it is performing slightly better atm.

IF you can find a slot on your bar for Solar Barrage and still slot Camo Hunter it's decent. I swapped RaT on back bar for Solar Barrage on one particular build, allowing me to keep Camo Hunter on FB, then use both Crescent Sweep and PotL (as well as Puncturing Sweeps and Jesus Beam), it ain't terrible if the skills work, which is a no in Cyro.

Yeah solar barrage is not great given it's damage and the buff for only class damage is half of what other classes get for ALL damage; but at least it's something.

Same to be said that I didn't mention about using Toppling charge as your CC if you're melee. Short duration but it gives some more non-resist defense in major AND minor protection to go along with heals so you can go heavy on offense stats

Put your Templar on the retirement bench and play a different class. I refuse to touch it again until they revert Jabs/Sweeps back to 4 ticks. The class has nothing going for it; mediocre and unreliable burst, a lackluster spammable, poor sustain, and average healing/defensives that're outperformed by most other classes.

I try that every now and then. If I have patience with a class, I get better, but generally I'm just still better on my templar. Except DK. I don't think you can screw up with DK

I would like to try shattered tbh, it is that good? I actually run wretched (my fav set), pariah, markyn and one piece magma incarnates. Pretty tank tbh.
Also 2h and one hand and shield. The two handed is because I prefer to use wrecking blow over jabs (jabs feel really bad now).

I actually put shattered fate on my build today using dw maces ( nern/charged) and still have 15k on without any breach, when my enchant procs via charged I have 18k pen. It means I don't need to use ele susceptibility which I do feel is a little wasted as I play bg and it's rampant in there any way.
