Regarding the New House...

Isn't it Vaermina themed? It looks like assets from the trial, which have a distinct Vaermina theme. And also makes a lot more sense given the themes from this year's chapter.



We've been to Evergloam, most notably during Clockwork City story. It looks very different.

That was my initial guess as well, but on mention of Nocturnal I assume it might related to the Ebon Stadmont location in Summerset.

the trial took place in Warlock Vanton's dream which took place in nightmare versions of Alinor and Orsinium. the altmeri architecture wasn't related to vaermina.

and evergloam not being exactly the same as what we've seen before is awesome! deadlands and apocrypha also don't look the same in all parts of those realms

Right, but the house looks like the trial. And surely the trial is supposed to be reminiscent of Quagmire? With all the dream/nightmare stuff, and Vaermina's key role in this year's story?

I'm sure it can be explained away, but it looks like a simple mistake, to me.

Right, but the house looks like the trial. And surely the trial is supposed to be reminiscent of Quagmire? With all the dream/nightmare stuff, and Vaermina's key role in this year's story?

that's evergloam from 2017-2018 though.

and yea the skybox in sanity's edge could be quagmire, but also not weird for the same colours to be used in evergloam as nocturnal has always used purple

So its more likely they've redefined 2017-18 Evergloam to look very similar to another daedric plane they're currently using for the purpose of this house without any explanation, than it being a mistake?

I'm not trying to be overly argumentative, and I appreciate another perspective, even if we're disagreeing.

look crows wood is a pocket dimension of evergloam so it might not be the same? but its skybox is similar to the house.

i get that it's odd that the house's skybox looks similar to sanity's edge. and i didnt make it i just dont think it's a mistake and two daedric realms having similar skies isnt very shocking to me.

this is the sever in deadlands and coldharbour. also similar. is this a problem too?
i think it fits both realms just fine.

We agree on this observation, but just have different interpretations of what's behind it, I guess.

i) There's a more recent, and more iconic aesthetic for Evergloam.

ii) This house is released not only amidst a chapter featuring Vaermina, and the house uses assets from a trial with strong Quagmire connections.

iii) similar mistakes have happened before.

These things suggest to me that the "Evergloam" house might have been mistake, or carelessly named.

I think it remains a possibility that they've favoured an older aesthetic, I agree. It think it seems less likely than a mistake given the other factors.

I also hear you that different aesthetics can coexist for a daedric plane, though those have all been deliberate design choices (because they didn't want the experience to be too visually boring).

I'll also point out that houses tend to be themed around- and use assets associated with recent content.

Sanity's Edge is almost certainly in Quagmire, or a pocket realm of Vaermina; Ansuul is "one of Vaermina's nightmare daedra"



It would have been way better if either:
1. They used the pale version of evergloam from Clockwork city instead (not the crow's wood one), and made it distinct from Quagmire-related skies
2. They made the house in Vaermina's realm, instead, to be thematic with the chapter

I personally much prefer it when the crown store themes reflect the year theme (I know it isn't a year long story anymore, but Necrom/Herma Mora/Vaermina/Peryite are still the major themes), and I'm disappointed it isn't within a pocket realm adjacent to Sanity's Edge honestly; that would've been cool
