We need more open land

Some of us like to build our own homes, towers, mansions, caves, what have you. Currently we have like 3-4 maybe?stillwater, moon sugar, coldharbor, maybe the werewolf one whenever it's available. Am I missing any? The rest have houses, huts, etc in a style that may conflict with our "idea" (or they're in some form of disrepair/ruins that we have to cover up. Seriously what's with all the ruins being for sale? Crumbling walls, ceilings...I'd expect more for 13000 crowns. But that's another thread) can we just get more flat land w/o a mud hut already there, or a Morrowind style tower with 8000 little rooms but still a low furniture limit? I'd like to build a home, not try to build something in the back/front yard of an existing house with conflicting architectural designs. I will never expect the housing in this game to match others such as conan exiles etc, but more flat pieces of land could be quick and save you some stress on designing a domicile. Just do a landscape and call it a day. Trust me, if we get to start from scratch, some of us will buy it.

Or give us the ability to demolish an existing house. That'd be cool too.

I would pay actual money to be able to demolish the chapel in the "Pantherfang Chapel" house. It's such a cool castle (one of very few castles in the game, and the best in my opinion), but it has this enormous temple in the middle of the courtyard taking up all the space. Why is there a gigantic temple in the middle of nowhere in the first place? Who would build it there and for whom? It's the same size as the one in Leyawiin (identical, really), and it's just towering over the keep, making it look small, and literally not one settlement in sight to provide the parish for it. You could build a settlement right in the castle, of course... but you can't, because the chapel takes up all the space!..

Phew. Sorry for the rant. Yeah, we do need more open spaces in various biomes. I would love to build a cozy village in imperial or breton style, but there's nowhere to build it - neither the khajiiti meadow, nor the frozen lake, nor the two Oblivion planes are fit for it.

P.S. And for the love of the Eight, please give us some roof pieces to build with.

Furiously plus! I also like to build, but not everywhere there is an opportunity to turn around. And yes! We need more roofs in different styles.

Even smaller plots of open land would be nice... The ability to move/remove trees, rocks, seaweed etc.

i'd love a small plot of buildable land by the ocean or by a waterfall or lake or something...

It's a little disappointing it seems most things have to be so HUGE and GRAND. i'm grateful there are those options, but wish it was more balanced.

YES! A small plot of land on a swamp similar to the Exorcised Coven Cottage, but with more water access (that little space of water is NOTHING). I'd just love to construct my own little swamp hut on some swampy lake or pond in Black Marsh.

And I'd pay real money to demolish the castle, because I waited FOREVER for them finally to release a chapel / cathedral, and they did. Only surrounded by this big ugly fort thing.

I guess the lesson of that one is that if you try to combine two totally different things you risk alienating two totally different sets of players, both of which would have bought the respective part of the house if there hadn't been the other thing!

A very rich lord who wanted his own temple in his castle to please the divines.
The bigger the temple, the happier the gods or some such.

I'm also all for more building plots, or even "demolishing" or style masking (if it were possible to implement); personally, though- I really wish for a much broader selection of architectural tools to go with it. Maybe a good selection of prefab buildings with their own load-in.

origionally i was hoping after we got moon sugar and then glacier lake it was a trend that each new zone would get a house and a plot of land house but sadly that was not the case.

Not really open though. You have some free space, but it's constrained by the specific shape of islands and a bridge between them. Although you could make a platform above it all to build on, but that platform alone would take at least 50 slots to cover the whole house, if not 100+.

The chunk on the other side of the bridge is pretty big. Although I do tend to build smaller stuff...0u9qzpakq1ew.jpg

I came to the forums to make this request and it looks like people already had the same idea lol. I'm not normally one for crown store houses but I'd be willing to spend money on open plots of land with no buildings (or at least small, easily ignored/hidden buildings). Like, I'm tired of the random daedric houses and giant mansions-- I can't do enough with those to justify the price, but if I could, I'd buy Moonsugar Meadow ten times over.

I totally agree, we need more empty plots to build!

But I also enjoy making maximum modifications to existing houses with gardens by completely transforming the gardens.
I had a lot of fun with Ravenhurst and my new project is the Humblemud.

Funny. I bought it explicitly because it had both! I had wanted both a temple and a castle forever and then they had that fantastic Pantherfang. It's one of my fave houses that I decorated.

I love both construction and decorating, so I'm all for more open land!

A discussion with a friend while on house tours turned up another solution, separate instances of the same house. I would still prefer more options but I DO have builds that I've worked hard on, do NOT wish to destroy, yet may have gone a different route were I to do it over again. So let us buy houses to use as a separate instance. I.E. coldharbour 1. Coldharbour 2. We have normal and vet dungeons, can we not do the same with houses?

Deleting existing structures may be problematic only because where would it go once deleted (storage?). There should be an option in all homes that is checked off to basically "deactivate existing structures". Many sites would likely need to keep their perimeter walls only because the home may be in the middle of a city.
