So it looks like from the various YouTube vids etc that the arcanist "meta" set up appears to be yet again the same as everything else...master dw, vateshran etc etc..new chapter, new class same playstyle..I was.hoping for something fresh....

Arcanist not meta man. Masters dw is meta for every dot class.

I'm not running either of those weapons and Stamarc has been a surprising blast.

I don't think they meant that Arcanist is meta, which it certainly isn't. They said the meta setup FOR Arcanist is masters dw etc, like other classes

Makes sense. Arcanist skills have a 22m or less range. So using the best short range procs seems sensible. Kinda of a DK without the good healing.

Runeblades and flail are not strong enough on their own to let the class function without master dw you can do a beam build but its very easy for a competent player to counter you then

Its because they nerfed every other viable option. Even other interesting builds like an Asylum DW / Virtulant Shot build which has potential, suffers from Arcanist sustain being built into passive from slotting class skills.

You can make the builds work without Masters DW / Vatershran, but what are you going to replace those slots with? A 2-piece set bonus, monster set, other arena weapon, or mythic? Not a single 2-piece is better, monster sets are meh for the most part, other arena weapons have been nerfed into the ground, and mythics outside of utility ones are meh except in a 1v1.

My builds have to be functional / viable in No CP, BGs, and CP. Im still slotting Master DW / Vatershran on Arcanist both in CP and BGs, simply because there is nothing else I would replace their slots with.
