I play through steam, so not sure if this is the case for the standard launcher as well but I have 2 issues I'm curious about regarding the download speed of updates on the launcher.
Firstly its the speed. I have 500mbps download which is fairly decent. Downloading anything usually isn't and issue. Of course outside factors will affect the speed I usually get like traffic on the network, weather etc, however my download speed on the launcher NEVER exceed 40mbps... Why? Minimum I sit around on steam is 300mbps. Significant difference. Any other platform like Riot or Epic etc, minimum is usually around 100mbps. So can anyone please explain why my download on the eso launcher is so horrendously slow? Is this common for everyone else? (through steam or standard launcher)
Second enquiry is regarding why in the hell such a low download speed affects everything else I'm doing on my pc, from watching things (streaming or already downloaded content) to opening files or applications etc. I have 32gb ram, and a ryzen 5 5700x and literally only have this problem when downloading updates for eso. Not sure if its worth noting as well memory use for the launcher shown on task manager also shows around 250mb, compare to discord which is around 340mb and opera which is as high as 1300mb. Given the low download speed, and the "semi" decent hardware I don't understand why I have these issues with eso updates.
In my head, if my download speed is bottlenecking to barely 40mbps, then why is the download causing lag and buffering issues with every other aspect of my pc when my hardware is more than enough to deal with this kind of workload. I run vectorworks on pc while doing the same things with far less issues than I have to deal with when I'm updating eso... Why is it only the launcher and the updates that affect my pc this way?
