Question: soloing Preserver of Galen - has achieving this any value to Raid guilds/players?

There is not much social aspect to normal Trials. There are usually people putting together groups in Craglorn all the time via zone chat. You team up, smash your way through the Trial, rarely chatting and mostly ignoring mechanics because it is normal, collect your loot, then disperse never to see each other again. :)

@Dagoth_Rac this seems cool! But I have to ask, since I'm built for solo - would it be ok if I "queue" as a Tank for Normal Pug Trials but I only have one taunt slotted, one self heal, 3 damage abilities (1bar), 45-50K Health and 23K resistances?
I estimate to do around 60K+ DPS but I don't know which role should I assign myself in the scenario you suggested (?)... Also, I have the resources to only taunt the Boss, because I use a Lightning staff and taunt with inner rage (stamina).

The subsequent question is: using a solo build in Normal Trials, would I get scolded?

(EDIT: guess I could swap the Lightning for an Ice staff that boosts Resistances instead of penetration and swap inner rage for frost clench as taunt... Not a big issue)

If you have never done a particular Trial before, you might want to "queue" as a DPS. After you do that Trial a couple times and have a better feel for fights and how bosses behave, it should be fine to advertise as a tank. When there are 8 to 10 DPS, you have some leeway for not knowing the fights. Tanking normal Trials is not difficult, but with only 1 or 2 tanks, you will stand out more if you don't know the fights. Unless you wander off into a corner and start fishing, it is hard for a DPS to get scolded in a normal Trial. Nobody really knows or cares what gear you are wearing as a DPS and stuff dies fast enough on Normal that nobody cares if boss might have died 15 seconds faster if you had an optimized max DPS build.

@Dagoth_Rac thank you very very much for all the super useful infos! Really, awesome man, thanks~

Btw, I guess this thread could be marked as Answered (have no idea if I can do it myself on mobile).

Also, it might be a good idea to start with someone looking for DPS for "normal AA". AA is Aetherian Archive, an old base game trial that is straightforward and very forgiving on normal. If you are going to dip your toe into trials, it is probably easiest place to start. On normal, you can mostly just stack on bosses and treat them like testing dummies. The other two base game trials are HRC (Hel Ra Citadel) and SO (Sanctum Ophidia). HRC is pretty easy, too, but you do split into separate groups of 6 for a while. SO is not so much difficult on normal as just really long and kind of annoying. You won't see it advertised that much. It is not a popular trial.

The rest are DLC trials. Still pretty easy on normal, but a slight step up from the base game trials. I would at least do AA and HRC a few times before going into a DLC trial.

Just remember to get on your own pad in aa! (this is occasionally a sticking point in Craglorn runs)

    Title.
I've recently duod with random players (and 2 companions) the Two Gryphons WB in Summerset, the Unfinished Dolmen WB in Wrothgar and said Preserver of Galen, so I gained confidence.

Since I never touched Trial content nor DLC Dungeons yet, I was wondering if achieving soloing that gigaboss would mean anything to Raid guilds/players or if it would be useless not adding any actual value.

I know Raid Leads look at parses but I'm still curious... Any glory if I would ever be able to do this? Or just meh...

Also, side question, never fought against the Wandering bosses of the Deadlands - is there any difficulty difference between the two?

Any insight from veterans is much appreciated! Could be something better skipping entirely and not even worth trying, I don't know...

EDIT: also, since I'm already at it, what about soloing Dragons?

I think it's definitely awesome that you can do this, it means you have good environmental awareness, and know to survive a hard-hitting encounter, but in terms of damage this doesn't translate to raids, because with enough mitigation and sustain someone can just take their time on it, without pushing a lot of damage. Also, there isn't a lot of mechanics involved and if you are tanky enough you can mitigate them without playing them. However, if you are looking to get into trials, it's worth mentioning this (and don't worry about parses, since training trial leads don't really ask for those), and I personally think soloing things like these improves you as a better player, so definitely worthwhile.

    Thank you @Jaimeh !
Nice to hear that these things have some value.
I recently bought the longhouse in Wrothgar and I find myself helping players in need with World Bosses there. Even if it's not a raid, it's a good feeling being able to save others.

These days I am thinking about offering myself to carry new/solo players through base game Dungeons. I could do this for free just to help those who want to complete the quest but find theirselves in Speedrun groups when pugging. Perhaps I could ask for the dropped gear so I can fill my stickerbook XD I'll see...
