On Not Punishing Progression and Advancing Diversity of Options

This is my suggestion to the game designers that they create a way for us to select which game pieces we want available in our decks as to better allow for progression and advance diversity of options that players have when patron choosing.

Currently, if somoene upgrades a card, then the upgraded card will be the only option available to them when they are choosing patrons. This can have bad effects.

For example, if one wants to choose Druid because they want the opportunity to get an Eldertide Fenwitch or Draoife Ritecaller on their first turn, then they are also giving the opponent several options.

For example, if one has upgraded their Stonelore Rockseer, then they are giving the opponent a chance of getting Envoy of the Draoife on their first turn. Envoy is signifigantly better than it's basic version. It's not fun to have to give opponents such options. It's doubly not fun to do this when one obtains Envoy of the Draoife specifically for the purpose of progression, finishing quest lines, or achievements.

Advancing the game and collections shouldn't punish us in these other ways which can be unforseen until later times. Also, depending on how the metagame of TOT changes, we may wish that we made different choices regarding card upgrades and clue hunting in the past. So either upgrading or not upgrading a card can end up feeling poisoned.

Ideally we would be able to create and choose 2 versions of every deck. The UI would allow us to check version 1 or version 2 of a patron when choosing a patron. I think that this simple change would help prevent the vast majority of feel bad moments that can come with upgrading or not upgrading cards.

Don't tank

"In future content we will probably adjust this model somewhat (The BOP model). It's definitely nice to be able to find a cool item that you don't need and trade it to someone who can't wait to get their hands on it." - Wrobel

I'm glad all the cards and upgrades are available to everyone. It makes the game more interesting and challenging, and also ensures that newer players can continuously enter the game without feeling overly disadvantaged.
