What race do you choose for your first Arcanist

Unfortunately our polls here on this forum do not enable to tick two races in case you start directly with two Arcanists, so the poll is restricted to the "First" Arcanist.
No room with max 10 options for "IDK yet" or "else" as well.

I am still undecided. I want Altmer, but I fear Khajiit are better suited.

Then again, I am bad at designing Khajiit. 😓 Almost all my previous attempts were generic and bad looking and eventually deleted.

I've had an idea in mind for an orc sorcerer for a while but never made him because I already have a sorcerer and don't play him much because I don't like the class, so making a second one would be pointless. But the character idea can work just as well as an arcanist and then it'll be less redundant and more useful.

We get only 2, so it is Dunmer and Imperial.

Staying alive while channelling Fate Carver at max damage is the most important thing for an Arcanist. High Elf racials are a good fit for that.

I already have a well-developed backstory for an Altmer character I want to play.

I want an excuse to spend more in-game time experiencing the beauty of Alinor's aesthetics and ambience. Alinor seems like a much nicer place to live now the game has moved on.

This will be my fifteenth character. My main I created at beta is a female Bosmer Stamsorc. She is my Master Crafter, story completionist and the leader of the group. Her younger sister is a fisty red headed Undaunted Bosmer Mag Sorc Huntress. Her third sister is a Bosmer Werewolf Sorc who plays the lute and has a goat for a pet. She wouldn't believe you if you told her what she truly was. My Arcanist will be the fourth Bosmer sister. Still developing her story. 🙂

So on test there were many reports that the arcanist had sustain issues. I haven't run into this at all, and that's because I tested with Breton for magicka and Imperial for Stamina. Imperial is overall good because of the 6% reduction to skill cost, but it also gives you health and stamina boost making it a little tankier and better suited for stamina builds. Breton gives you discounts for magicka only, but it also boosts magicka and magicka recovery.

If you don't care about absolutely optimizing arcanist for damage, those would be my picks because you don't have to manage resources nearly as much. Obviously you'll always have to manage them a little but it was never really a problem for me in game, and Arcanist damage is perfectly fine on its own. You'll never see your name on a leaderboard I guess.

I noticed something about the Arcanist, you can use two skills and basically pick up 13,900 physical and spell resistance and 15% block mitigation. That triggered a deep-seated urge to max it all the way out by stacking 2600 more resistance from a Nord.

The other thing that occurred to me is a Nord has almost the equivalent to minor heroism as they take damage. The Arcanist ultimate is nuts, like dropping a massive bomb, and yes I do want to stack more ultimate. For the first time I’m thinking of Nord names like Gert the Sweltering

Initially I thought I'd made an Orc or Khajiit, but I hadn't yet found a class/Redguard combination I didn't get bored off and delete after a few weeks other than brittleden. Until now. I created him on the PTS and now I'm obsessed. Maybe I'll create that orc/khajiit as an altanist, but for now I'll focus on the Redguard 🙂
edit: btw since I don't care about meta he's mainly mag based!

I would've gone with Dunmer for the lore and stam/mag flexibility if I didn't already have one. But I do so I decided on Altmer and therefore a mag arcanist. Breton and khajiit also look tempting but it's hard to pass on those 258 spell damage, and I also already have a khajiit.

That... is a really interesting idea. Combine that with a decisive weapon and I wonder how quickly you'd be able to redeploy that thing.
