hist sap though requires being hit by a disabling effect, snare, or immobilize

disabling effect would be like stun, fear, possibly silence (from something like negate, not 100% sure on this one though)

Oo, what a very good question. I'll be interested to hear the answer too. Unfortunately I don't know.

I ran Hist Sap a long time ago on a magden and I loved it. I understand it's starting to blip on peoples radar now that maras is being sufficiently nerfed.

Only thing I can add to this conversation is that I just highly recommend the set. In my experience the uptime on it is very high. There are a lot of abilities that have secondary effects of slowing you... Not even including legitimate roots and stuns.

or just fighting a DK or templar, where every other attack is applying a snare lol

i also dont know if it would affect a self debuff

though i think thinks like sustained in suffering or pains refuge also work with self debuffs

theres always caveats though, like using balance doesnt count as taking dmg because its considered skill cost but ravage health pots count as taking dmg because its a separate negative effect

Tried it today on live. The answer is no. Neither do status effects. Self poisoning with Minor Cowardice potion did not trigger it either. Seems like it has to be a DOT, snare or stun from an opposing player.
