Great news: oakensoul gimps the Arcanist to a large extent

I feel like this will make LA players happy to some degree. I just got done watching most of the content creator videos on their experience with playing the arcanist. I noticed that they were all unimpressed with a HA Arcanist build given that the crux system requires skills to be cast. Oakensoul is already a huge crutch, the last thing I wanted was for it to infiltrate the new class, and lead to an even stronger class than the sorc when it comes to HA builds.

There will however, be a mythic that increases skill damage while decreasing LA and HA damage. This is awesome because unlike oakensoul, it will still require a fair degree of engagement.

The gap between oakensoul vs. nonoakensoul players has been increased as far as the Arcanist goes, and without having to nerf oakensoul!

I can't believe I'm defending them, but a Mythic increasing ability damage would be disastrous in PvP, greatly empowering those who already spec into high burst damage.

Oakensoul isn't just for heavy attack builds.
Are the skills such that a one bar rotation would be strong, or would they lose too much without a backbar?

HA not working so well on Arcanist doesn’t solve any of the problems with one-bar HA sorc. That said, I feel like Arcanist could be a good opportunity for a decent no-weave setup. I’ve been a supporter of weaving but honestly ergonomically I don’t think it’s good for anyone to be doing.

I would be shocked if either the class or the new mythic isn't farcically over powered in pvp for the first few months after the dlc drops.

It's essentially the marketing model for the summer dlcs at this point.

I’m very pro-Oakensoul and HA builds BUT I’m okay with the Archanist not using it. I was actually already planning to use 2-bars on my future Archanist, and I think it’ll be better and force players to thoroughly learn the class.

The new mythics got released too. They seem interesting…

The mythics seem interesting indeed. I’ve been maining a NB and I gotta say, I am tired of weaving. Not only is the new mythic taking the weaving out, but the Arcanist class as a whole has fairly long cast times which encourages you to kind of slow down and think.

People think that mythic is bad, try the mythic that grants a fake block effect on you, imagine this in PvP, imagine trying to gank them.

Same here. I don't hate any build. It's just different ways of playing. As long as LA is generally harder hitting than HA builds, I don't care. I care about top-down balance when it comes to sets. I don't care about who gets to get be mid or above average.

Speak for yourself. I'm not overly concerned with how oakensoul performs one way or the other. If anything I'm glad that oakensoul has given players an opportunity to try content they otherwise wouldn't have been able to do.

Oakensoul lives rent free in people’s minds. I see tons of players using builds that do not utilize this item. If you don’t like it don’t use it. But don’t complain about an item that is useful for those with disabilities / new players / people with bad connections etc

Those criticizing oakensoul live rent free in people’s minds. If you don’t like other players celebrating when oakensoul receives a nerf or isn’t relevant in the newest content, then don’t listen to them. But don’t try to silence others who speak up about in-game mechanics.

Not all change is for the better, and those who say they are for change are only so when it behooves them. There’s enough threads of oakensoul users claiming they will “lose it” if it gets nerfed.

Can’t even celebrate these days without someone trying to pull you down.

Well.... I do feel that you're attempting to "snoopy dance" on other people's playstyles and enjoyment. There really doesn't seem to be any reason to have posted the way you did, other than to upset people who didn't appreciate your attitude in your previous post about Oakensoul.

Balance/Player sentiment threads need contribution from people for and against a change so that the developers can make the most informed decisions about player sentiment.

I think this comes across moreso as celebrating other players not being able use the build they prefer on the new class than a balance issue. But either way, I disagree. I think Oakensoul is balanced. I don't have any celebration that an accessibility build isn't as good on a new class but also don't feel particularly against it not working well with Oakensoul either. It sounds like this new mythic may give a similar option for downplaying weaving.

This new Mythic Ring:

Adds: 7480 Offensive Penetration
Adds: 11% Damage done
Adds: 28% Critical Damage Done
Your Light and Heavy attacks deal 99% less damage.

It looks actually fun and interesting. Useful in dungeons for sure, and maybe optimised raid groups can drop Alkosh/EC for other things - whatever they may be - if everyone runs the ring. We'll see however, but big JABS and Jesus Beam damage looks fun.

No one is demonizing players for using oakensoul, it’s the item itself getting criticized. One of the most anticipated things about the Arcanist is how it will perform with oakensoul. It turns out that it’s not going to be that good given how the Arcanist plays. If that makes oakensoul players unhappy, it’s on them. I’m just glad for the Arcanist class being so different and unique. There’s this kind of plague that anyone who’s not in lockstep with oakensoul, that they’re this baddie needing to be castigated. It’s a joke.

If I am to be demonized for celebrating the way Arcanist plays with regards to oakensoul, so be it. It’s always easier to play victim while making someone else out to be the boogeyman.

Damn that Mythic 4 ring with the Arcanist would be fun. LA/HA would slow a builder/spender class down way too much. Wish we could ditch weapon swapping and just have 10 abilities 2 ults we can map as we please though, swapping weapons feels so clunky, especially if you have lag issues.

EDIT: NEVERMIND. Forgot you needed to light/heavy attack every 9 seconds or so for ult gen. Renders the ring kinda meh since you'll need to keep weaving every now and then anyway.
