Returning Player from 2017 Should I Buy Game on PC or PS5?

According to my payment history, I last played in 2017, after having started with the BETA for PS4. So nearly 6 years ago and I know a ton of stuff has changed. I'm curious if the experience is better on one platform vs the other these days? I have a PS5 and an Acer Gaming laptop. I'm going to be starting completely over, so I don't care about saving anything from my PS4 days. I doubt anything from back then would be useful now anyway.

Any advice on your favorite platform?

However, I have heard the economy is awful on there and things costs a lot.

I definitely think you should choose pc. I play with some addons that improve QOL so much I'd quit if I lost access to them. It takes time to set them up, but you are rewarded and the options to personalize what you need, is pretty fantastic

PC has the larger and by far more active community. And the impact of addons for QoL cannot be overstated.

PS5 can be, from what I hear, a lonesome experience, particularly off prime time.

Also keep in mind that it is easily possible to use a gamepad on PC and Mouse'nBoard are more difficult to use comfortably on Playstation.

Economy is actually a pro point for PC, because of availability and access to rare items, when compared to PS. Again, this is partially due to Addon implementation.

Pc easily much bigger playerbase and people with a bit of maturity, console is all well and good (i came from xbox) but its a small population.

Definitely PC, and you can still play with a controller on PC if you so wish.

I recommend starting with a minimap addon, these are very useful for finding your way around (particularly since you've been gone a while), and there's more than 1 minimap addon. You could try installing Minion addon manager, and searching for "minimap", they're not hard to find.

I recommend starting with a minimap addon, these are very useful for finding your way around (particularly since you've been gone a while), and there's more than 1 minimap addon. You could try installing Minion addon manager, and searching for "minimap", they're not hard to find.

Noooooo. Minimaps are pretty tough on memory. You will have longer loading screens.
If you don't have a good PC with a NVMe SSD I would recommend against it. It doesn't add as much as it takes. After all, the compass is still there and you will always have quest markers or POI markers active anyways.

Better are Harvest Map, Lazy Writ Crafter, Destinations, Skyshards and Lorebooks.

Not true about mini maps.

Votans mini map is very light on resources.

This addon reactivates the mini map from ZOS. Thus the mini map does not do less, but also not more than the built-in world map, because it is the built-in world map.

No artificial synchronization of (custom) pins between mini map and world map. All kind of pins are supported by design.
But also no border pins or rotation mode and such features. My mini map is intended to be lightweight and fast.

I genuinely did not know that there is a dactivated minimap feature. Is it an alpha relic? Or has it ever been part of a live build?

I just installed the game this evening and went through the tutorial. After that, I went to a starting area where there were a lot more people and tested my frames per second and latency at Ultra and max settings. I averaged 85-100 FPS and 60-72 latency. According to my Adrenaline AMD gaming software, I never dipped below 85 FPS in 36 minutes of gameplay. That was with everything on max and me running, jumping and fighting the little critters around the area. I'm not sure if it would drop below that in larger cities, I don't even know how to get to a popular city yet. My laptop has the ability to overclock but I was happy with the numbers I was getting so I didn't bother. Now it may be taxed more once I download addons, I'm not sure but I can always drop my settings from max to one below or tinker with the overclocking features.

You think I will see a drop in numbers in a city or in a group? Just curious if the starting areas are less graphically intensive? Worst comes to worse, I buy a new gaming laptop, lol. This one is 3 years old, so probably ancient tech the way they get outdated so fast
