Class Populations - Its a DK minefield out there

For every Necro I run across, before I see another Nerco I end up fighting 15+ DKs.
For every Templar I run across, before I see another Templar I end up fighting 12+ DKs
For every Sorc I run across, before I see another Templar I end up fighting 10+ DKs
For every Warden or NB I run across, before I see another Templar I end up fighting 3+ DKs

What I'm saying is PVP is DK vs DK vs DK vs NB vs DK vs Warden vs DK vs DK vs DK vs DK vs DK vs DK vs Sorc vs DK vs DK vs Templar vs DK vs DK vs DK vs Necro

Devs need to balance the game better so there is a better spread of class usage.

Because they're massively overpowered compared to other classes. There are a lot of Wardens (not as many) as well, and they're a scourge too. Just from anecdotal evidence I'd hazard a guess at maybe 40-50% of the PvP pop at any one time is DK, 20% NBs, 20% Wardens, the rest a split between Sorc, Necro and Templar, with the latter two being less than Sorc.

PvP is a sorry state of affairs at the moment.

Elder dragonknights online. Class has been the best class in both PvE and PvP for like 2 straight years now but the clownshow working on this game probably hardly knows because they don't actually play.

Don't blame DK for the horrible nerfs to other classes. Leave DK alone. Buff the underperforming classes and skills.

No, it was buffed last year and before that it was completely trash for 2 long years. I know it, because dk is my main and I played it through these 2 years nad sometimes it was very frustrating, especially in PvE.

Personally I don't want to have this class stronger than others, because there is not fun in that. I just don't want another hard nerf, so maybe call for buffs for other classes where is needed. Especially that I really don't want PvE nerfs only because of PvP. You know problem in PvP is not with dragonknights but with tank meta. Dk are most tank class so they always will be good in this meta. You can nerf damage, but than you can't play as DD in PvE which is not fair.

Still don't know why DK needed ALL of the buffs it got back in U31/32/33, they went way too far with overbuffing the class back then....

Sure it needed a little bit of help, but it was nowhere near as bad as people claimed it to be before the buffs.

As a 26-28k health light armor DK, I was doing just fine in solo open world and BGs before the buffs, sweats struggled to kill me unless they outnumbered me (at which point everyone should be losing those 5+v1 if all skill levels are even remotely equal, or a 3v1 if the 3 are higher skilled than the 1) and had plenty of damage.
The main issue DK had was that plar was very strong back then and jabs plar was a very strong check to corrosive DK because it dealt 5+ instances of smallish damage over 1 cast of jabs that corrosive barely reduced and had good healing + purge too so its pressure essentially ignored corrosive and its healing could counter anything DK wanted to try.

This is from a sorc main who dabbled in DK before all the buffs because leap is such a fun and satisfying skill to use.

The issue with asking for buffs to the other classes (and I was advocating for buffs to sorcs instead of nerfs to DKs/NBs) is that I'm not sure if they know what the other classes need or how those other classes are played anymore and combined with the fact that they seem to refuse to listen, take on board and work with the points and concerns brought up by the mains of those classes, it seems like nerfing DK and NB is the only way to get balance now unless they do a 180 and actually start to listen, consider and implement what the player base is telling them the other classes need, which based on the past is extremely unlikely to ever happen.

As an example, I created a massive thread about sorcs, their entire list of abilities, with associated pain points and ideas for improving them. Through rigorous discussion, it was narrowed down to 3 points to buff the class. In order of priority they were:
1. reliable 1 bar burst heal
2. small buffs/fixes/reworks to passives
3. access to major prohecy/savagery to better tie in crit surge as a HoT
With an overarching theme of these points being that they are not tied to pets in any way.

Instead of listening to that given feedback, discussion and conclusion about the class and what it needs, reached by multiple sorc mains across mag/stam/hybrid and implementing something that would have been along the lines of what was discussed, they instead gave us slightly larger shields that also scale from health (great for PvE tanks, but no difference for anyone else) and made 1 morph of the execute deal all of its damage in an AoE, neither of which were what people called for or what the class needed and left the class still in its weird spot of run heavy attacks or pets (or both) to compete in PvE and still crutching like crazy on maras balm + streak + masters DW or building for max mag for PvP.

I guess there are so many DKs now, they can claim to be competing with each other. PvP is about as un fun as I’ve seen it.

DK, NB are so for ahead of the other classes it renders the other classes instant potato regardless of the player's skill level.

Every build I've evaluated for my sorc just flat out works better on my DK or NB. Watching streamers' build videos for the other classes, the first repsonse is, "wow that is bad, even with the player's obvious high skill level". The meta build for the trash tier classes is Master DW, Maras Balm....and even that is 30% more effective on a DK or NB.

the only reason DK is so spammed is because of how busted some of their passives and ulti's are.
name any other skill that caps damage intake to 3% of your max hp while simultaneously burst healing you, restoring resources and dealing huge af damage while doing so.
throw stuff like mara on top of it and they become juggernauts.

just making the ulti cap damage at 7 or 9% of damage intake would still make them good but not god mode, part of the reason DK's are also prominent PvE tanks is because of how absurdly busted their resource gains while tanky is

They play as DK its why DK are king.

My Warden has zero problems facing other players. My DPS PVP build Warden has 2-3K less damage than my Templar and produces 10x the kills. My Warden defensive skill are IMO better than the templar as well.

Game isn't balanced by any means.

I’m a little tired of the “buff other classes to dk level” argument when dk has just straight lapped every other class in how good it is. Even the second best class imo, warden, is just nothing compared to it just corrosive armor is WAY over the top when compared to another offensive/defensive ult like northern storm. There should be no skill in the game in which the only counter play is to run for 12 seconds or however long it lasts. Dk is simply too good it desperately needs to be nerfed for the health of the game. Just changing the health cap to something like 10% would allow it to be defensively not as strong while targeting completely naked targets.

And with proper gear and potion usage a DK can almost have zero seconds of cool down on this skill.

I got to level 50, having a good time but won’t lie that hitting jabs feels tough sometimes.

DK was balanced during the Malacath Era, back before the nerfs to Heavy Armor, HP Regen, and the scaling of Procs. You don't want to admit it but you know it's true: The Malacath Era was better gameplay.

It was always a grotesque lie that all classes should be high speed, high damage, roll-dodging Kiters.

DK was a good DoT tank for years and years, but the meta shifted so strongly to high speed deliverance of delayed AoE direct damage that the class was rated quite poorly, leading to its overbuffed state as a high-speed deliverer of delayed AoE direct damage (Flames of Oblivion, although I think it's always been classed as single-target, not AoE)

The well-deserved nerf to Jabs took too long, if that had happened earlier DK might've not needed any buffs.

So now it's time to nerf Flames of Oblivion, more than anything. By far the leading damage skill in Xbox NA BGs, and like Jabs, a mindless and uninteresting way to win.

dks are somewhat manageable at least, better dragonknights online than elder sorcs online.
