When we RP, many want to have something exciting or interesting happening. They want an engaging story. To write a story that will interest and entertaining a group of people may seem like a daunting task.
You need a starting point, something that summarizes what the story will be about. Your first step is the creation of one sentence:
Someone wants/needs something by a certain time, but is prevented from getting it because of something/someone.
When you are stumped, use this sentence to get your creative juices flowing. Don't let structure scare you off. After you have your sentence you can make changes as needed. Perhaps when you are done, it will not look like what you started with. That is great. As long as your players are engaged, you have been successful.
So, fill in the blanks and start your story:
___________ needs (or wants) ________________ by _______________, but is prevented from getting it because of _________________.
Example:
The Ebonheart Pact wants to capture the Imperial city and the Ruby Throne of Cyrodiil, but is prevented from doing it because the Daggerfall Covenant and Aldmeri Dominion are trying to do the same.
Give it a try and see what you come up with.
