If ESO were to shut down for good, what would happen to your RP story and your character?

Would you use another MMO RPG and thrust your character into a totally new setting, making them have to cope with a strange new world?
I would just keep my character background and make a few changes as far as places and names went.

Not that I started my little pet project as a failsafe, but more a place to try and bring people together that enjoy RPing.

If you want to see what all the craftable lights look like in ESO, use this command on PC NA.

None of the options fit what I'd do... Eventually Baldur's Gate 3 will have officially supported mod support just as Divinity: Original Sin 2 did and it's the ultimate RP D&D sandbox, no need for zoom or browser based stuff (plus there's other non-browser based D&D options like Fantasy Grounds that I have as well for instance), would just take it to one or the other.

What would happen? Nothing, because it's game over...

Would you give up on the Elder Scrolls character and setting and move on to another game?
I don't really like any of my ESO characters that much rp wise. I feel like the quests regularly push me to do things I dislike, the dialogue makes me play an idiot, and I really don't like being the Vestige.

I've created a character in a different TES game (TES:Blades) who happens to have the same name as my ESO main, but they are two different people, living in different eras, and with different life (game) experiences. How could I remake my ESO main in some other TES game and expect them to be the same characters? It's impossible. Whenever ESO shuts down-- which I'm hoping will be never-- that will be the end of my ESO characters.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

My characters already span multiple games and genres. Multiverse theory.

They are all the same, but different. They share similar background elements, morals, and ethics, but are obviously shaped by the world they live in. Some live in worlds that never advanced beyond medieval, or worlds with varying degrees of magical influences, and even worlds far advanced from ours. Some live in desolate nuclear wastelands while others live in unravaged worlds. Obviously, they never meet each other.

If the game is an RPG that allows me to name my character, and the game's backstory aligns with, or allows, a character I already have, then that character will eventually be found there if I play the game enough. I have a stable of character archetypes that I tend to fall back on, and I have been doing RPGs for long enough that my experiences exceed the ability for game designers to come up with something new. I even played a transgender character decades ago in an AD&D campaign, before the word "transgender" even existed, because I saw an interesting backstory and potential for character development.
