Drop rates reduced the more antiquity leads you have?

Found three wading kilt leads in one evening, but now farming water-related resource nodes in Shadowfen for two evenings and not getting any lead. Does the chance of finding leads get reduced the more leads you have? If so, it will take a long time to get the lead in Mazzatun dungeon since few people are playing that dungeon now.

my general experience with antiquity leads that are anything other than treasure map related drops:
    • the first drop tends to occur relatively quickly (in most cases if the lead is not bugged, <10 or <20 tries)
    • the 2nd drop tends to be much more rare than the first one (in most cases the 2nd lead takes me 10-20x longer to get)
    • the 3rd+ drop tends to be somewhere in the middle, rarer than the first drop, but more common than the 2nd drop

its usually pretty rare a "first drop" lead tends to take me a long time, i would probably say one of the worst for me was the mora lead from watchlings (i think i killed around 1000 of them for the lead, but i havent gone back to try farming it since they increased the drop rate lol)

It’s best to do a group dungeon lead first then. I’m doing the Ruins of Mazzatun lead as the fourth or fifth, which can take months to finish since few are playing Mazzatun now…Maybe I get the wading kilt next Christmas :):)

I think the RNG is just terrible on some of these, there really needs to be a "pity" system of sorts. I've run 3 groups of friends through Shipwright's Regret and all of them have ended up with the lead and I still haven't. At this point I've got another 2 or 3 runs before I'll have all the weapons collected... it's beyond stupid and frustrating! I'm not having fun.

RNG is RNG... For my oakensoul ring i got it within like 2 attempts of all the required things for instance.

Right. I'm just suggesting that the chance to get the lead go up the more times you do something. Looting chests or something is one thing, but when the lead requires a group of people it's just kind of lame to have such a small chance at getting it.

I'm seeing things that are a bit fishy with drop rates on leads as well. Even with my toons set at blacksmithing 9, I'm at just over 100 attempts to get my second copy of that lead (the first item is fully complete)

That is a horrible number of writs to do and still not have the lead and I'm a player with 18 toons available to do it with. The thought that some players with a single crafter might be attempting to collect their codex over a period of YEARS is ridiculous.

I - don't know. I get drops everywhere and one of my mains (or an alt I'm leveling) digs them. I've got that BS lead drop on 4 of 6 accounts (3 accounts both PC NA and EU), and it's not even something I care about. The lead dropped on mains, CP over 160 on all.

And I still have to grind the Crab boss for my last EU main - who's only level 43 at this point. And no one's been at that boss for a couple of weeks now. I can't solo the crab.... and I can't really just camp there as I do have other things happening.

Rather than find another lead for an already complete item, just go to transmute station and make another one (with desired trait).

based on what i've seen from other complaints...

do leads when you get them, don't sit on them

if you allow a lead to expire, it may be possible that the lead is locked from you getting it again- if you feel this is the case contact support (ex- in cases where you have killed something thousands of times without a lead drop).

there haven't been many reports of people saying that because they have all other leads for an item, the last one is harder to get. If you want to count this as more evidence against this- I did Banished Cells 2 like 10 times with 3 of the leads for Syrabane's Ward, decided to take a break and go fishing in Galen for one of the other leads, and got it after 3 attempts. That doesn't seem like a reduced drop rate to me. I would like to think that drop rates are set at a low amount, but anything is possible.

when I had to kill that beholder mob for a different lead, I probably killed more than a thousand on my sorc, then switched to my NB and got it within 10 beholder kills. It is probably superstition to suggest that switching up characters leads to better lead drops, but changing up your characters can be a healthy changeup in otherwise monotonous farming.

Considering how fond ZoS is of using inconsistent, invisible timers and cooldowns on various loot drops to artificially prolong game content, I would not be surprised if leads were subject to certain shenanigans.

However, it does feel like the less leads I have active (in general, not just one specific item) the less likely I am to get more leads; Of course this being RNG there's no way to prove it though.

See now I feel the exact opposite. I almost always get leads within the first couple of tries with few exceptions( the deadlands rune drop took more time)

I have always suspected if you don't get it the first few times move on to something else. Grinding it out only leads to your own frustration and perception that the grind was necessary to get it. Try a different lead or activity then try again a couple of times later and I bet it drops. RNG does not improve from grinding.

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Players Helping Players section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I also have a feeling that drop rates increase after a relog or after starting the game, but might just be a silly feeling.

i have seen it rumored in another thread about the monster trophy drops that when you login (or logout then in) it might give you a different random seed which might make it easier to get certain drops (such as the monster trophies)

dont want to get called out for say a conspiracy theory, but it sounds like a related situation (where some people spent dozens of hours farming for a monster trophy, switched toons and then got the trophy drop relatively quickly)
