purple companion gear exploit?

im used to seeing a few pieces of quickened purple companion gear at a time per equip type. now theres so many of EVERY type of purple companion gear in the market that values have dropped from millions to thousands. i recently sold a quickened boot for 5m, now worth 5k....

the gear from the reward box is bound, so thats not it....

is there an exploit? i need to know if i must avoid these items or if i can attempt to invest haha

People are dumping their stashes because, even though the gear from the reward box is bound it lowers demand. Whether the low prices will stay or not will depend on how generous ZOS is on companion gear going forward.

do people really stash this much stuff? the valuable quickened equips are usually hard to find at all. now there are thousands.

seems a bit off to me. im hoping it really is just stash dumping though

Yeah the numbers do seem a bit high. A lot was generated during Zenithar, though. I suppose it could be that there's an exploit, though I haven't heard any rumblings nor can I imagine where it could come from., especially since TTC indicates a lot of different sellers.

when companions first came out with blackwood, i definitely sold a purple piece of companion gear for 3 million gold (dont think it was even ideal trait)

now that companions have been out for a year and half, you can still occasionally find 1 mil gold companion gear, but it has to be purple and the correct trait, most likely jewelry

The purple event boxes have a chance to drop purple companion gear, add to that the regular drops. Plus the drops from the 100% event reward(gave me two purple, one golden), makes that there is a lot of purple companion gear flowing around right now.

At the moment I receive well over 10 purple companion items per day, some days even 20+. If you assume 1.000 players do that, it comes down to 10.000 purple companion items per day. And ESO has more than a 1.000 players per server(PC atleast).

So it is not that strange.

PS: But I sell most of those purple companion items to merchants, due to having bad traits on the wrong armor type.

I cant imagine how anyone would be getting 10 a day, much less 20.

It's not really price gouging if the item is in high demand and low supply. I've spent millions on companion gear for full purple tank, healing, destro, two-hand, bow, and dual-wield sets. For the longest time there were at any given moment maybe a dozen max of particularly-traited pieces of gear on the market, so their prices remained high. Some pieces were just rare and in demand, and I didn't mind paying a lot for them because I wanted to deck out my companions in the best gear money could buy. What else are you going to spend gold on?

What a coincidence? Someone bought mine for 5 million recently I had mis-priced it. I also sold a sweet roll I stole for 4 million.

So let us put this in perspective, $5mil buys 50 player monster helms/shoulders or 20 dungeon class gold jewelry or 33 overland gold jewelry at the Golden vendor.

So, is there a particular place wear it (purple companion) gear drops from, Like dolmens?
Plus, about maybe a month ago I was telling a guild member about being at some guild traders and finding something at one of them (companion) item, (purple) plus it was the only one in the list. Instead of buying it, I wanted to see if the rest of them had a better deal (they didn't) but, by the time I made it back to that same trader, that had the same piece I just
saw, at 3x the price.
So, my guild member was saying that there's a
(ESO Mafia) her expression, that go around picking up low priced companion gear and marking it up 3-4x it's value and reposting it.
I thought she was nuts but, it happened to me
long b4 her telling me about it.
Well anywho, if someone has any insight that
dolmens would be a better place to get purple
companion gear, that would be great 😃
I've also have taken my companion into Vet dungeons but, it doesn't drop.

There isn't anywhere specific to farm companion gear, quality is purely random and any mob can drop them even trash mobs out in the world, in public dungeons, or from any boss encounter. They added companion gear to the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Undaunted daily quests too so doing those every day its possible to rack them up.

you can "farm" purple companion gear by using filer ool's rotational selection in the infinite archive

each week it has a box with 1 pc of companion gear in purple quality, the trait will be random though

each box is 1 pc of purple gear of the specified type (heavy armor, medium armor, light armor, etc), but have to keep in mind any companion gear acquired through this method is bound immediately upon opening the container
