Five Things You Packed, But Don't Really Need
No one is an expert right away. New characters are often quite inexperienced with life and adventuring. Take a moment to examine your character's inexperience by looking inside their pack and seeing what they insist on taking with them on their adventures but don't really need.
Growing up, you were taught that a specific item was important to your identity. On the road you have found little use for it. Every time you see it among your belongings, you make an excuse to keep it.
What is this thing and where did you get it? Are the excuses to keep it harder to find?
An object was part of an old superstition you were taught as a child. It has since proven untrue.
What is it and what was the superstition? Is it something you had to "use" or do you have to be just in the possession of it?
When you went on your first adventure or into battle for the first time, you grabbed this object. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. You are still waiting for the perfect time to use it.
What is it and what conditions would allow you to use it?
You purchased this object with the intent on learning to use it. You keep putting off the opportunity to learn to use it or your situation does not allow much time to devote to learning something new. Now getting rid of it would mean the purchase was a waste.
What is it and how long would it take for you to learn to be proficient in its use? What is keeping you from taking the time to learn?
An article of clothing that has sentimental value, has become damaged from years of use and is now unusable. A decision now must be made about its future.
