Shadow Model 3.0

So I signed up for the early access copy of EOS. I waiting till the right time.. When the time came I could not get into the game. I would press play, and it would freeze. I called support several times with LOTS of help.. Still to no avain. I then ran the game in safe mode.. It said I needed Shader model 3.0. I am running DirectX 11.. which runs Shader Model 5.0.. What can i do? I REALLY want to play.

I would try deleting and redownloading the game if you had previously participated in the beta. You can delete the "UserSettings.txt" and "ShaderCache.cooked" files in the "My Docs\Elder Scrolls Online\live" folder to see if blowing those settings away gets you back in.

Personally, I wouldn't delete them - I would move them to the desktop temporarily and then launch the game and see if it works. That way, you can move the files back if you want to.

I am assuming you have the latest drivers installed from AMD/Nvidia website.

Are you running Windows XP?

Ya this computer is brand new. I have Windows 7

In the respective driver control panel, under software information, what version of the driver is being reported to you?

Have you tried deleting those two files I mentioned in my previous post?

It says my processor is AMD. I have redownloaded twice, I have not tried deleting the files yet.

Please try deleting those two files (or moving them to desktop).

Please let me know what the driver version number is for your driver?

AMD A4-5300 APU. Should I also try removing ESO as well as deleting those files?

I would just delete/move those two config files first, to see if the problem goes away.

I am looking into the AMD A4-5300 APU now. I believe this counts as an integrated GPU and may not be fully compatible. Not sure yet.

The AMD A4-5300 APU has an integrated GPU: the Radeon HD 7480D.

This Radeon is classified as a DX11/SM5 integrated GPU.

The support staff in this forum have posted a FAQ at the top of the forum. In this FAQ, they state that integrated solutions are unlikely to work at this time.

How the software is able to determine the difference between your video adapter and a discrete card, I do not know.

Did deleting the files help?

I am running the Web installer right now.. and deleting the files didnt seem to make a difference

I think you will need Bethesda support to certify whether AMD APU's are supported, and specficially your model because there are 3 different types of APU's now. I am sorry, I wish I could help you further.

It said a newer version or equivalent version of Direct X has been installed already. No installation is neccesary

In the file "My Docs\Elder Scrolls Online\live\UserSettings.txt" There is a line SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11"

You could try changing that to D3D9 and see what happens.

Save the file as UserSettings.txt in the My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online folder

See when I go into \live there are no user settings. Is UserSettings.txt an option folder? Because I dont have it
