Game won't Launch

Rockhound173
Pre-ordered game, entered code, confirmed early access, downloaded game, and once download was complete I pressed play and nothing happened. Same thing when I played the Beta. Basically once you hit "play" the button stays greyed out and that's it. Tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing worked, run as admin, disable anti-virus, download game, etc.

Exact same problem, just submitted a request for a phone call with almost identical description.

    Hey,

Please go to My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online/Live and look for the UserSettings.txt file. Then perform the following steps:

    Open UserSettings.txt with Notepad
Press Ctrl + F and search for RequestedNumThreads
This brings you to the line SET RequestedNumThreads "X" (with a number instead of X)
Change that number to 0 (zero, not the letter O)
    Save and close the document
Restart the launcher and try to launch the game

I received that same response when trying to fix during beta, number was already zero, so didn't help. In an attempt to avoid problems, I deleted everything prior to early access and started from scratch, re-d/l'ing the client and game. UserSettings.txt file is not present in that folder.

ZOS_RobertM, greatly appreciate your quick responses. Have been waiting for a phone call for hours now. I did as instructed above, but that doesn't appear to have helped.

Hey, I'm sorry I noticed an error in my previous post and made a correction. Can you try copy and pasting that again and see if it makes a difference?

Question , does "SET LastRealm "NA Megaserver" need to be EU if im on eu server ?
  • Mojostealer
    Have also tried the following:
Have both launcher and eso.exe set to run as admin.
    Have tried multiple compatability modes.
Just attempted the selective start-up using MSConfig, as suggested by mod in another post.
    Same problem persists.

    @ZOS_RobertM‌ same here :-(

I am really disappointed because I was up at 4 AM my time, I wanted to reserve character and guild names. It's now 5 PM and I am scared to run the game because my whole PC shouldn't crash. It's not 1999.

    Crash? Thats a different problem.

You guys need to be more specific what hardware you are running on an what software is running at the moment of launching the game.

Would you please try to run the game in compatibility mode and as admin, look at the screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/VysVTfd.png ?

I updated from beta US to live EU and that settings file was missing.
I made it and copy-paste in My Documents/The Elder Scrolls Online folder and the other 2 subfolders and game is working ok now.
Just be careful to do it right and feel free to insert that file all over :)
