Some of my characters win more games than the others

I have 4 characters and I have noticed that 2 of them win the most, the third wins almost as many as them and the fourth barely wins any games ever. Has anyone else noticed something like this with their characters?

I think I will create a spreadsheet and try to document this trend.

Make sure to note down who your opponent are and the decks for each game. Maybe that will contribute to if you win or lose aswell.

Why would the character you play on matter, though?

Just because there's often a person or persons that drown in their own pools every time Nicholas Cage appeared in a film, doesn't mean that the two are related in any way - nor is it a "useful" statistic.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I rarely win a game if I'm on one certain character.

But it's you who's playing the game - not the character. If you blindfold yourself every time you play on a specific character (and lose) - it's not the character's fault.

There's absolutely no indication whatsoever that the character you're playing on can somehow influence your victories.

To make a claim that, say, X character has better odds of rolling a clue from a box would be a huge leap - but the thing you're implying is just ridiculous.

It is true that I am the one playing, but it takes more than strategy and skill to win a game. We also need to aquire enough good cards, and this never seems to happen when I play on this particular character.

    It's really puzzling.

Today I played one game on each character. I won two games and lost two, and one of the losses was for my character that I don't ever remember having won a game while playing her.

If this is a concern, I suggest keeping a record of your matches so you can figure out if there's a genuine outlier in the data.

Today I played one game on each character again. I won 3 games and the game I lost was on the character that I have yet to see win a game.

Maybe it's coincidence but it's a strange one.

I notice I sometimes have a great winning streak with one character but lose the first game I play with another, but I have not noticed that one character wins or loses more than the others overall. I'd be really surprised if the game developers decided to stack the decks (literally) in favor or against particular characters within a player's stable. Why would they do this?

A few possible explanations for why you are seeing this effect:

    1. Sometimes random distributions produce weird, non-random-seeming effects, at least until the sample size is very large.
    2. Confirmation bias. This is when we notice results that confirm a pattern we have come to expect but unintentionally ignore results that don't confirm that pattern.
    3. Since you got off to an unlucky start with a particular character, you might be psyching yourself out somehow? Maybe you are now playing differently with this character because you expect them to have a harder time.
    4. Maybe playing with a particular character at certain times when you may not be as sharp. I know I make more careless mistakes when I am tired or if I have been playing too long.

I agree that you should write down/keep the data on your wins and losses with each character to see if this is as pronounced as it seems. Also keep track of things like time of day, play order and so on for each character.

I agree that it would be odd that the character would matter in a win or loss. Even then, it would require hundreds if not at least a thousand full games on each of the characters. and noting each win and loss to determine if it were truly the case that one character wins more than another. Small totals of games can easily be skewed by a few extra wins and it means nothing.

I suspect this may have something to do with it. I may try so hard on her that I end up sabotaging myself.

Someone posted in another thread about an addon that tracks tribute stats for each character individually. I'm going to install that and see what happens moving forward.
