Why am I losing every single game?

Every. Single. Game. (ok, almost... it's a fluke when I win)

I always make it to rubedite and once I'm there I would say I lose 9 out of 10 games.

I started by thinking that my RNG is just crap (which is pretty much in line with my life) but it can't be all RNG, otherwise we wouldn't have the same players at the top of the leaderboard time and time again.

I watch videos and try to implement advanced strategies, all to no avail.

I LOVE this game but it's getting very disheartening.

Maybe I should take a break. Anyone else feel this way?

EDIT: I'm referring to PVP ranked competitive - no problem defeating NPCs.

Yes, I often feel like you. Sometimes I've played badly and I don't mind losing, but sometimes I'm so unlucky that I feel really frustrated. When the game only offers me bad cards and I have to choose one and my opponent always gets the best cards. I think I don't anticipate the opponent's moves enough, but that doesn't explain everything. Sometimes there's literally nothing I can do to stop the other player from doing what I wanted to do (but couldn't because of money or luck). But to be sincere, I sometimes had incredible strokes of luck, so I think you just have to hang on!

The worst is when the game crashes during a ranked game. Not only do I lose the game, I lose places in the ranking and I have a penalty when I reconnect, but in addition, my opponent thinks that I have given up when this is not the case! This happened to me twice yesterday. :s

Thanks for your input... I really appreciate it.

I have never had ESO crash during a game so I guess I'm lucky in that regard. However, I have rage quit a few times... after maybe my 10th loss in a row and it seems that I just can't get any good cards. I guess it would be the equivalent of me standing up and flipping the table... lol. Very childish of me!

The only thing that makes it better is when I chat with my opponent and they are just the greatest. I have never experienced another player who has rubbed my face in their win. I've only met supportive players and I guess that's been the best thing about Tribute so far... much better than winning.

It sounds like you're passionate about the game, so maybe try to find a ToT guild. Maybe w/ a discord server that you can chat or even spectate through some games, that should be all you need to see winning lines in games that slip away from you at the start.

    Just a few questions:

    1. When facing a choice between 'buying a mediocre card, or nothing' which do you do?
    2. Are you buying the best card in the shop regardless of whether it fits your planned strategy?
    3. Do you have a plan for each opposition strategy that develops?
    4. Are you ensuring you get to 8 coins ASAP? (8 coins is the point in which you can buy 2 cards OR a cost 6 card and still writ)?
    5. Are you using the same tactics you used previously against players who are essentially much more methodical than faced at previous ranks?

Try using a different approach to the one you use currently, and see if it has a different outcome?
For example - instead of buying cards good for you, try buying cards only if they make your opponent have a worse experience (for example... if you have 5 coins and your opponent definitely only has 4... if everything costs 5 in the tavern, try buying nothing because you greatly offer the opponent a chance for a card instead of wasting their monies!)

If you're interested, feel free to hit me up in-game, I'm head of a growing ToT guild on PC/NA that will have it's first Monthly Million tournament on the 30th at 8pm EST -- 1st place will receive 1m gold with prize payouts going to the top 50% of players. We've got a Discord and will be moving the gaming hall to Highhallow Hold when it comes out later this month  My in-game name is the same as here, @Rooatouille.

If you post some gameplay I will gladly attempt to point out some turns in which I would have played differently, and highlight any consistent mistakes you might not realize you are making.

Dont let losses bring you down though :) I tend to float around the top 3 spots on NA and I still lose most days I play!

I am losing all the time now too, and watching the progress that I earned from winning a game be taken away is draining all the fun out of playing.

    Gosh.... thank you so much!!

Something has turned and I am now on a winning streak... I have implemented some ideas from this thread (so lovely of everyone), I watched a JHart stream and picked one thing to implement immediately... and I moved away from ranked competitive. My current rank is rubedite but from now on I'm just playing unranked casual. Well, each new season, I'll get to rubedite and then switch. I've experienced quite a bit of toxicity this week in competitive... no thanks.I really love ToT and don't want nasty whispers to ruin my enjoyment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond - you have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Competitive. I played a few games of casual to practice using the Red Eagle deck but otherwise I only play competitive.

Oh ok... I have found more success in casual.

I get to rubedite and then leave it, especially considering I've experienced some toxicity in ranked... calling me a loser, telling me to hurry up etc.

Nothing like that in casual - everyone has been so lovely.

Hope you get yourself on a winning streak very soon :)

Success in casual won't get me the Rubedite rank and the last ToT achievement I am trying to get.
