Low Pop Bonus Either Bugged or Incredibly Broken - Fix the Campaign Eval Scores for Gray Host

So at 7:20am (NA EST) on July 27th, the campaign eval tick was 350 for EP and 175 for DC in the Gray Host campaign. All factions had the same number of people, but EP and DC had low pop bonuses. DC had no scrolls, and only 4 keeps, with no outposts, but somehow had the same sized eval tick as AD, who had 4 scrolls. EP had an eval tick of 350, which wouldn't even be possible if they owned the whole map (which they absolutely did not, they had home keeps and their own scrolls, that's it).

Again, all pops were the same size. This low pop bonus stuff is way out of hand. I can understand some buffering if one faction is outnumbered for a long period of time, but this is broken as **** right now.

These eval scores should be fixed to represent what the factions SHOULD have gotten, because obviously in that last maintenance something was improperly done, and the low pop bonuses are not working as intended.

For a year AD was the primary beneficiary of the low pop bonus.

Not looking for this to get derailed. This isn't a post to rid or not rid low pop bonus entirely. The evaluation ticks that are happening this morning are VERY obviously broken. Bonus is perhaps getting applied 2x to 4x, even when pops are the same.

Would very much like to see a devs response to this, as it is quite ridiculous and needs to get corrected, both in terms of the bugs and the extra campaign score points that were added but should not have been.

The devs don't read this forum. Your best hope is to fill out an in game help ticket about it. Maybe someone who cares and can do something about it will read the ticket. ...but this is a far from new issue. It's been being reported ever since they dropped the pop cap to about 80/faction without changing the low pop algorithm to accommodate the super low pop cap.

Thank you for the advice  I did fill out a couple in-game tickets as well. Still hoping to get some kind of response from this. Figured I'd throw out multiple lines and see if I get a bite.

It was crazy. Even when DC did have less players, they kept losing low pop to EP who had more. I legit felt bad for DC. :/

agreed but i hear the current cyro rulesets have been around for years so, even though it's difficult, i (personally) try not to care despite competition dictating otherwise. it's upsetting but nothing can be done.

The low pop bonus is not applied in real time, it is applied based on the population difference of the last, not sure 1, 2, 3 evals? Something like that. It is a catch up mechanic based on population previous to the current eval. I believe it is done this way because if it was done in real time and a low pop faction was gated and had nothing then in essence they would get no low pop bonus. By delaying it until the subsequent eval or evals when that faction has more people on and actually start gaining territory back it catches them back up from when they had low pop and got owned. It is not supposed to be applied in real time.

IIRC they fixed the actual bugs with this a while ago, the bonus is intended to stick around after their population has recovered as a catch-up mechanic, so the name "low pop bonus" is very misleading. I don't think this is necessary or useful since it often applies to factions that aren't the lowest pop on average and are close to 1st place in score, rather they should fix the other mechanic "low score bonus" that's been broken for years.

The low pop is absolutely ridiculous

If anything I could see low pop bonus for your AP reward giving you a payment bonus for fighting outnumbered but the score evals are out of control

Just reviving this again to point out, once more, that the amount of a bonus given from the "low pop bonus" is absolutely ridiculous. DC currently (8:00am EST, Aug. 20th) sitting at a 358 campaign eval tick. Again, as I mentioned, even if a faction held everything on the map, they're eval tick wouldn't be this high. I completely don't understand how a "catch up boost" -- which should give us, at most, topped up to 100 for the next tick -- actually provides so much of a bonus that it would be impossible to actually achieve in any other fashion.

As people have pointed out, it doesn't get updated in real time. So a faction that now has more than EP is running around with this massive eval tick and 20% AP bonus. A bump in order to be able to maintain some form of competitiveness during "off" hours for a faction is understandable, for sure. But the way that this functions right now is absolutely broken.

This needs to be fixed. Like, immediately. It's ridiculous.

Seems like it low pop always comes a few hours too late. It doesnt come when I defend keeps alone or with few allies against a huge Zerg, it usually comes after we lost last keep and all scrolls so i can either try taking back a ressoursse and get zerged down orsolo nightcap the map after every body went to sleep and i want sleep too. Or the low pop faction has enaugh players and PvDoores the whole map and outnumbers other factions while still having low pop.
