Corrosive armor in update 35

I was surprised not to see this skill adjusted. I think reducing the duration to 5-6 seconds would have been a great change considering the ulti spams

    DK took another pretty hefty nerf overall. Less DKs = less complaints about corrosive. Truly big brain 4d chess.

    A skill should not be balanced against what an overpowered set allows it to do. Corrosive was being spammed due to Oakensoul Major Heroism and ult gen stacking.

    That will go down now that it is minor heroism, so Corrosive spam won't really be too much of an issue. Paired with the heavy attack nerfs as well.

    The set will be replaced the problem remains.

    For example Drake's Rush: (5 items) When you Bash an enemy, you and up to 3 group members within 15 meters of you gain Major Heroism for 12 seconds, granting you 3 Ultimate every 1.5 seconds. This effect can occur once every 18 seconds.

    Slot it on the back bar and a team of 2 DKs can keep that buff 100% up. So the problem still remains.

    Stamsorc got steeply nerfed, for example.

    Corrosive Armor has always been too good, even before Oakensoul. It's just that people are seeing it now moreso because of Oakensoul.

    Great damage mitigation + great damage boost is a very powerful combo.

    The only reason people don't activate it more is because they're spending ultimate on Leap, which is another terrific ultimate.

    I don’t believe DKs got nerfed heavily either. Great adjustments were made. Molten whip coating both stam/mag is an interesting change

    That's a much bigger investment and won't have perfect uptime. The overall uptime and frequency of dealing with this ult should both be much lower in u35. It's too bad they nerfed DoT dps, which is one of the few things that counters Corrosive.

    I don't get it. The heavy attack build crutching on corrosive is gone in U35. If a DK turns green, just go kill someone else. If multiple DKs turn green just disengage for 10s. It's really not that hard.

    This I fight other dks every day. I see them turn green I dodge roll thru and get away from them until it's gone. Then I go green and smash 😇

    By that logic, the best way to deal with anything in PvP is to log out.

    Corrosive is not really an issue with out major heroism. 90% of DKs ran Leap over this ulti till Oaken Soul. Even now about half your DK run leap over corrosive. You will see less DK's and that is good.

    The problem with corrosive is that is easy to mitigate its damage by simply getting away from them for 11 seconds yes I know its 12 sec but you actually lose 1 sec on activation due to animation. The damage mitigation also requires you to run lower health. Corrosive is a nice ultimate but so is leap and standard is awesome in PVE. You would see corrosive before Oaken but those players were very easy to play around. Also with the new DK nerfs from the last patch hidden by oaken soul resource management becomes more of an issue, consistent leaps provide better incremental resource management.

    They actually got hit pretty hard dots are very Meh. Molten whips tool tips are not even close to live servers. But so did Templars, Sorcs, and Necro's. Nightblades and Wardens were actually buffed unless you factor in Light attacks. Then nightblades took a hit.

    Tell that to ZOS, nerfing the Atro duration literally because of the same Oakensoul abuse.

    i mean playing around enemy damage windows is nothing new.
    -mechanical acuity
    -balorg
    -necro self synergy ult combo
    -etc.
    -etc.

    part of pvp is knowing what effects look like / do and working around them, and disengaging / defending at a timed and telegraphed enemy strong point is part of the process, that's obvious, this is simply PvP..

    this ult has been nerf'd by the way, it was nerf'd to have the actual pen function not work on dots (on the literal dot class) smh

    i would have prefered the opposite actually.

    Corrosive and Leap are the strongest ults in pvp, if you want to kill other players.

    Yeah go ahead and nerf anything that can kill tanks. Enjoy giggling and slapping each other with wooden paddles in the next glorious tank meta.

    Corrosive Armor exists for years in the state it is now, except they made it work also for magicka builds, and it wasnt used very much most of the time, many dks use shield wall over it. Corrosive Armor ignoring Penetration makes it most effective on builds with almost 0 penetration. But you dont want to have 0 penetration outside of corrosive armor. So do you build for 0 penetration for the timr you have corrosive armor or do you build penetration for the time without? Only with high uptime you want to give up penetration and rely on corrosive. Stil many dks are not even using corrosive.
    Just getting away from the enemy for 12 seconds isnt always that easy, many players(not only dks) dont let you create any distance and stay in range all the time and keep hitting you in the backwhile you are sprinting away. Problem also exists with Vateshraan destro and Zaan, you can try getting out of range and stilll staying inside for the whole duration. Stuns, Immobilizes, Snares, Gapcloser and high enemy movement speed make escaping creating distance impossible.

    The damage is fine, the mitigation turning off half the mechanics that would kill the DK is obnoxious at high uptime. The nerf to Oakensoul's ult gen seems sufficient, u35 has many problems but Corrosive should be fine.

    What's surprising? the key things that were the root cause were nerfed (oakensoul, molten stacks) and it costs 216 ultimate with stage 3 vamp so its not exactly cheap. Lets see how it does this patch instead of just blindly nerfing it again

    that you get to be an absolute tank & deal massive damage for a long period of time. Builds have that number much lower than 216, I’ve seen as low as 136 for corrosive. What would be the cons of reducing the duration to 5-6 seconds? it’d still be a great ult to use

    Leap is mostly a joke, especially if you block regularly. Most DKs use it as an execute and by then I'm already blocking and healing back up. On average it does less than 4k damage and I'm a Sorc with ~20k armor.

    This ult has long been known as the most overpowered ultimate in PvP, to the point where it’s considered bad mannered to use it in Wayrest. They should change the ultimate so you need to choose between godlike damage or godlike mitigation; magma shell should be the mitigation morph and corrosive armor should be renamed “corrosive weapons” or something, offering only the penetration without the mitigation, perhaps they could return the penetration on DoT’s if they make this change.

    Corrosive is the problem oakensoul with daedric trickery and you still get to spam it after the update. Corrosive def needs nerf

    There's also Drake's Rush, but neither of these builds will have anywhere near the uptime that the 100% Major + Minor + Akaviri Dragonguard setup did. I wouldn't say no to the "Corrosive Weapon" idea as long as it came with some buff to the skill's overall offensive power, by making it affect DoTs, or buffing the damage and range of the poison AoE, etc.

    Yeah, I can see that if you're blocking, Leap isn't much problem. But it sucks if you're using Gaze of Sithis. I'd love to get some tips on a magsorc build from you. Seriously. :)

    To be fair, Atro could also be oppressive in duels, though I agree the nerf was unwarranted.

    you guys do realize that in order to have corrosive up 100% you have to build for it and use Oakensoul (1 bar only) right?

    your problem isnt with corrosive or DK or Oakensoul, your problem is because it feels strong when you are fighting it, and instead of nerfing something thats actually FUN to use, they should make OTHER things MORE fun to use

    its too bad ZOS doesn't care though, so carry on ...
