Request for ToT match chat channel

I suggest to open (automatically) a chat channel to your opponent when starting a ToT game so you can directly chat with him/her.

Whisper mode is of course always possible but most often overlooked.

Communication is a strong part in a card game and I miss this possibility.

Of course, it should be possible to deactivate it if a player does not want to chat and see chat.

I would like to have access to a few emoji like icons to share - a thumbs up, a congrats, a thoughtful expression etc

    These could be something customisable

I agree with this. Some positive response icons to say Nice Move or Well Played (or Lucky SOB ;) ). It would also be good to see a small image of the player character so that it doesn't feel so impersonal.

I'd like this as well. I've only had pleasant whispers and I can ignore anyone that's unpleasant.

I understand the urge to avoid toxic behavior. Nevertheless there is no way to avoid it fully as whisper will always be possible anyway. So why not have trust that most ppl will just act reasonably and facilitate their life?

Not if you play offline. Then the last resort would be sending a mail.

Just out of curiosity, do they only whisper toxic comments when you win, or both winning and losing?

All good intentions are ruined by the internet. Would probably become a feature every turned off by how toxic and spammed it ends up being.

Tribute was the first time I've ever wanted to block whispers. I really wish they could be blocked without appearing offline to my friends.

I do like the idea of simple emotes to pass back and forth during a match, however. Simple things to communicate back and forth

But why play a online game when people can message you lol...

Yea they should have a game chat. If you dont like it dont use it. Wont hurt you but will be good for people who want a game chat...

The eso community are so anti communication with other players... So many people wanting to play solo...

    No to dps trackers
    No to gear viewers
No to chat in anything but zone/say/tells
No to anything that most mmos have.

Why? People are ikky so I dont wanna play with them. In. A. MMO.

Thx for asking. In my case i got such a toxic whisper in only 4th game at all and my very first ranked game. I lost. Im playing eso for such a long time and am a pvper so i very often experienced that, so i knew where to put it and how to deal with it, but that almost robbed the joy for TOT at the very start. Now im totally into it. For newer players that is definitly a problem. I i would have been a newer player at this point i very likely would have stopped with TOT at all becuase that was such an ugly experience when i had no clue of the game at all.

Edit: and from playing other competitive games too, i know that is very often used to distract and taunt the opponent. You often get spammed with chat when its your turn. Even in games where u can only choose pre made comments and cannot type urself!

Toxic behaviour is unfortunately there but only coming from a minority. The thing is one tends to remember more often the toxic chat and forgets about the normal and pleasant chat which is how human psyche works.

I think it is just better to put players with toxic chat messages on the ignore list than hard-coded prevention of communication in a MMORG.

Have people been mean to you? I've had a couple whispers but they have been nice.

Yes to only positive emoji icons.

Beyond that a hard solid no due to chat being open to trolling, baiting, and bashing. I expect Zenimax sees this as a real possibility.

I love the positive nature of your perspective. Yes i think too that in eso in pve there is less toxic bahaviour then maybe in other games. In pvp there is imo more then in pve but still the community is like in balance, if you lokk at other games its in my experience like 80% to chat in a way that has the goal to win by distracting and taunting and so on the opponent...

I don't want my opponent talking to me during the match because it could be too distracting and I don't want to give away any of my strategies. I think this is why we never see poker players chatting it up during a game.

I have had some nice interactions after a game through whispers, complimenting each other on a very good game. I really enjoyed those, but just don't want to chat during the match.

That's why I suggest to just add an option where players can just disable match talk. This should be not too difficult to implement and would allow those players who like to chat to enjoy the game even more.
