did they change the way BG leaderboards work?

Before last week it was always the top 100 players listed in descending order by number of points with a few extremely talented healers or smurfs/twinks dominating the boards of various game types by a huge margin of points.

Last week though, the boards were grouped like this for each game type:

-top 12 or so players would get rank 1
-the next 20 or so would get rank 12
-Number of points didn't seem to affect rank, some people with less points were ranked above people with more points

Didn't get screen cap, but did get a leader board reward pack for land grab and DM. Did anyone else notice this? Do you think they're tuning the leader boards to more accurately reflect ELO or MMR? Didn't see any mention in any patch notes.

The ranking system is not number of points scored now. There are ppl with half the points scored above others with higher. How is this rank determined?
