The location in a game is the place your screen shows you. When you're playing ToT, you are in a game board, where the turns are timed.
I generally believe that someone is running rockgrove when it says they're in rockgrove, and running stone garden when it says stone garden.
It's an avatar in a virtual world, in fact, the character is nowhere.
